A little thing called history got me to that point. Your from PA you should know about this sorta thing. Ever hear of Randy Weaver? Pa houses the largest population of militia than any other state. I get the feeling you didn't watch the whole video though. At least I hope the youth of today could comment more intelligently than that.

It was an interesting video, and I'm not surprised that the government would murder someone like Hunter S Thompson. I really don't believe anything that the government says anymore, and i find it extremely disturbing how many Americans are still "brainwashed" into believing their lies.
And as a quick side note to hgmaster, I've noticed you get attacked a lot for the threads you make in the political section. However, don't stop, because i think more people need to "wake up" and realize what is really going on in our world and our country.
I'm not saying that all the conspiracies are true or other stuff like that, but I think people have to start being more open-minded. They have to think for themselves and not be a pawn to the greedy and power-hungry politicians.
At least I won't get flamed too much since almost no one visits this section of the board.

One-shot, your comment really summed up the problem i have with America today. You have this us or them mentality. Life isn't divided by such precise lines. It is sad that the bush administration was able to resurrect McCarthyism, then again, most people are ignorant to the past (and are doomed to repeat it).
The only way to become better is to change, because that is the only way to grow. Apparently you love America enough to believe that other people aren't entitled to their civil liberties (which are disappear pretty quickly). This whole "us or them" and the idea that "America is always right" is exactly the reason why the rest of the world hates us. I hope you don't believe that all the anti-American sentiment is unprovoked.
Alright, I'll be honest and say that I'm not going to change anyones mind, and that isn't what i'm trying to do. I just want people to be more aware and consider all aspects and points of view. I don't hate or dislike anyone because they think or act differently than i do. That applies to all cultures, religions, races, and political viewpoints.

.......ok so I should start thinking Bush is a evil mastermind who had planned 9/11, kept it the best secret ever and think america is out to destroy the world. Oh noes I see the light. Come on, their is something called paranoia. BTW dont have any type of mentality like that. Unless common sense is what you mean which yes I have plenty of ktnx. Type of people like you and hg master are just so far off the mark its sad and your proven wrong all the time. So stop acting high and mighty pls, your not even close.

Go debunk pilots for truth about 9/11. You keep saying I am losing the debate but you offer zero. You are simply unarmed in this battle, go look some stuff up would ya. Don't do it to prove me wrong, do it for the sake of learning itself. Come back and explain to me how Bush's family made their money. Surely you know this right???:confused::confused:

If you can't accept and respect the fact that other people think differently from you then I think that makes you at least just as "paranoid" as i apparently am.
I didn't say that i believe in the 9/11 conspiracy or other conspiracy, you're putting words in my mouth and i think that is kind of unfair. As i said in my last post I'm not trying to change your mind and i'm not trying to make you think like i do. The reason that i responded to your comment is because you basically associated anyone who doesn't agree with every action the government takes with Al Qaeda.
I'm not anti-America, I'm anti-bad-policy-making. It is just that i believe in civil liberties, and I think that those are starting to go the way of the dodo.
I don't want this to turn into an argument, i think we should be able to discuss this in an adult way.

My original post must have gotten over looked as well, I never said I completely agreed with the entire video, but that I did find the whole male prostitution scandal a bit interesting. Was Jeff Gannon a plant, a ringer? No way, The white house would never do that, and I hope NBC burns in hell for even saying it!! Not saying I do, not saying I don't, I just lay it out for y'all to play it out.

No, i don't really believe that it was an inside job, I'm just trying to say that people shouldn't be seen as anti-American for thinking about things like that.
And as for the whole "words in mouth thing" (the more i say that the more it sounds like some kind of weird fetish, haha) i just felt that you were implying that i was trying to make other people believe in conspiracy's, which that wasn't what i was doing; i think there was just some miscommunication between us.
Anyway, this thread has gotten off topic and i feel somewhat responsible for it. The video was interesting, i hadn't heard about this story before today.

It's funny that you bring up McCarthyism. People back then called him all kinds of names and said he was crazy. Except now we know that almost everything he said was true. I wonder if that will happen again.

"A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government."
- Edward Abbey (1927-1989)
He doesn't hate America, he justs feels distrust for an administration that creates illegal laws that violates the constitution. Do you know that any American citizen can be considered an "enemy combatant" and thrown in some secret prison. The gov't can seize your assets if you protest the war in a way that "threatens the stabilization efforts." And they don't need a warrant for anything. Your assets will be frozen our you will be sitting in a cold cell while you never get to talk to your lawyer. Our country is becoming a police-state where Presidents abuse their authority under the guise of "the war on terror" or "national security." America is losing the freedom that our fathers fought for.
Hitler used the same tactic that Bush is using now. He took away civil liberties in order to "protect the people." The Germans did not realize the magnitude of their loss until later, when it was too late. The tactic is harnessing the fear of an enemy to gain power and take liberties.

I haven't watched the video, partly because I distrust anything on youtube as a serious source of information. Granted, people can cut segments of legitimate documentaries and slap them online there, but all-in-all I'm more apt to take youtube for a site where one can see neat yo-yo tricks or flash animation videos than I am a place for serious political exposition. If a conspiracy of a great magnitude were unveiled there (with the US government itself in control of the Internet, no less), far too many people would have to be neutralized to cover it up. I simply cannot see youtube as the great revealer of hidden secrets.
That said, what I will agree with you on (imagine that...) is that the government is completely untrustworthy. I don't care who a man is - if he runs for President he's after power, money, and fame, not the betterment of the country. I fully concur with Mark Twain's assessment of Congress as a club exclusive to idiots, and I refuse to even register to vote because there is no lesser of two evils when deciding who to elect.
I'm not an anarchist, I'm not saying Communism is the way to go. I'm just saying our government has betrayed the people far too consistently, and for way too long now, and cannot continue the way it is today. Checks and balances are fading, people in power are corrupt, and partisan politics is raping us of our future. It's time for a massive re-structuring, but it will never happen.
I don't put murders, rapes, even torture and genocide past the American government - we're no less evil than any other country. We just lie about it more often, and more effectively, and patriotism has blinded the kids whose parents were raised singing the Star-Spangled Banner before school every day. It's sad...
I was born and raised American, and I'm embarrassed to admit it.
