can this be done? that would end the piracy issue for sure. put in a special program to keep it from being shared. that would be awesome.

That would be a MASSIVE waste of space.

oh, yeah, well, i forgot the size of the disc. maybe they can do something along those lines to help bands fight piracy. maybe they already have and i just haven't seen anything yet.

i would love the idea of Blu-ray Music, just think you could get 24Bit sound, i would love that in my room. 16 bit now just dont cut it any more.

yeah, i think alot of CDs are made with 24 bit sound now, at least i think so. but that would be great to be made with that much resolution. i don't know what else they could put on a blu ray disc to use up the space. maybe videos or something. just the technology of anti-piracy alone is worth checking into the possibility.

No your right, blue ray audio disks should come out soon. They are going to need all that space for the latest DRM algorithms.

Perhaps they could put uncompressed music AND videos for each song on a single layer BD-Rom..

Oh hell, I don't know what they would do with that much space in all honesty!

Umm, how come they never put music on DVDs?

Lol true but they might have not thought of that or just too much space but what if the Band wanted to fit all their songs on one CD that would be cool but dont think its gonna happen 8)

Dude..just a 25gb blu-ray disk would be awsome for music. Get a "blu-player" or a "bluman" (lol tryin' out some names for blu-ray audio players...) You could burn so much msuic on to that disk, all .wav quality files. (btw mp3 players compress the crap out of audio files, so the quality on these players would be insane!)

Meh, it could happen.

I just thought, you know eminems album intitled; The Singles. Well it goes over onto many, many disks and has the instrumental and videos for each song. All i need to do is rip and it put it onto a blue ray, and hey presto, i have 1 disk, that i will treasure with my life ;)

I think it's just not gaining popularity, many people don't see the benefits of having better than 44khz stereo music, though I would probably buy an album or two, simply for the 5.1 Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound available on DVD's... I plan on buying one to test it with my sound system when I go to the states this new years.

Yeah I wonder why they never made any DVD-walkmans. I know it was expensive at first, well I guess there is better storage now, 5-9 gb isn't all that much anymore :-P

So say we have high quality mp3's, 8MB per 4 minute song...
that's 3125 songs on a single layer blue-ray disc, 6250 on a dual layer disc, not bad!

They also have smaller discs for HDV Camcorders, that would be pretty cool...

for those out there who think mp3 is good.....think again. mp3 is a lossy format that sacrifices quality for space.....this loss may be adequate for rock or whatever but is certainly not good for classical music recording. i as well as many other people certainly hear the difference between normal cd and mp3. even on songs from slipknot, which use mostly electronic inputs. i think the main problem is that people are loosing interest in quality music like mozart.

Not me buddy, I love Russian Classical, specifically Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, and Shostakovich. The others are ok as well but Russian Classical has a special place in my heart.

there are a few DVD audio CD's that came with regular cd's and had the 5.1surround sound . I think Blue ray audio is a great possibility esp if they can make Mini Blu-ray discs and players you could have a mini blue ray say like 1 inch and a smaller center hole(you know what im saying) and maby it could hold 2GB or something who knows. plus with the scratch resistant surface i would love that no more scratch discs when i toss them around my car.

wouldn't they have to a video for every song?

on a album there'd only be a couple with a video attatched to it.
Unless they can have it like a concert on a Blu-ray.

i personally look forward to seeing SACD quality(or better, say like DVD-A) music on blu ray. oh man that would be so sweet. imagine listening to ALL of beethoven's piano works, having each piece played by 10 different pianists. so much versatility, especially for high bit rate lovers

its just left to the imagination what could be done with all that storage. But for the time being it will be probably used for piracy
