when i saw the headphone jack on the left of the psp theres a little slot beside where the headphone actually enters http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/FmanFORPS3/slot.jpg theres a rectangular slot http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/FmanFORPS3/slot2.jpg.

In a MiniDisk player theres the same thing and the rectangular slot is for the radio to work :http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/FmanFORPS3/MD.jpg.
so does this mean theres a radio in the PSP?

from the info uve given us:yes
from my predictions:yes since the radio isnt such a hard feature add and considering all the features PSP has, it would be smart to add it....

It would be awesome to have a radio. But Sony hasn't said anything about this yet. What about mp3's, are they going to be able to be put on a memory card and played?

yes, they have confirmed that, but it actually depends on how much memory you have, cause if you have just a little, you obviously wont be able to fit many songs in the memory...

They have even been speculation in a connect service that utilises the wi-fi capabilitys.

Radio sounds good, but will there be a radio recorder like on some mp3 players? I think that'd be a nice touch, saving songs from the radio directly to the Memory Stick. It wouldn't be CD quality but its good for when your traveling and not able to illegally download music on the fly.

My guess would be yes since They are making Cell phone sets and Software for the PSP. Since it can hook up to hot spots everywhere it has endless possibilities regarding internet and such, Sony has already released a net browser(like Internet explorer, Opra and mozilla firefox wich i use:)). But this beta wasnt suposed to be downloadable because it had some bugs, so a few people who downloaded it to thei PSP are having some problems, thoose who got theese problems got the PSP fixed for free(waranty and stuff :))

Here is a link too an article about the cellphone capabillities:)

And Dru22 Mp3's are playable on the PSP, you just simply just hook up your PSP to a computer and transfer the files just like you would with an iPod.
It also suports Attrac 3 and Attrac3+ for thoose who use this format, it's suports MPEG 4 and a couple of other video formats :)

The radio in my opinon is not needed at all, i mean i have one in my MP3 player and i never use it, one reason being that the signal is never strong enough and im willing to bet that the PSP radio would be just as week as mine so it wouldnt be that great anyways.

well the PSP is the "jack of all trades" in multimedia devices, so if there is a feature someone doesnt like they dont have to use it. all of these features make the PSP very expensive to manufacture, so sony may be going to far with the endless amount of capabilities in the PSP.

i agree with crimson_king's opinion though, a radio is a little ridiculous dont you think

well, i assume that Sony put in a radio because this is the first portable system, so they wanted to put everything that could be put into it to try to make it supirior to other portables.. But i do use my radio on my MD player somtimes and the signal isnt that weak, especially if I'm outside.

but who is outside playing video games? and trying to stuff all this into one, some being very cool and nifty and others like the radio in my opinion is a waste of space for the things that wouldnt be used much.

yes, I agree if there is a radio, it wont be used much, but as I said, it wont be used much, so it will be used sooner or later.

Radio just seems a little outdated to me. I wouldn't ever use the feature if they had it.

I think I answered my own question about the radio, it seems here :
http://www.mypsp.co.uk/largepics/aab.jpg
it has the something very very similar to the remote attached to make the radio work on the MD:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/FmanFORPS3/AAAMD.jpg
so now im positive that if you buy that attachment, you'll be able to use the radio

like I said, you have to buy that accessory if you want a radio. So i guess ya the PSP doesnt have a radio, but you can get a radio for it...

Right now it doesn’t appear like they're selling a radio accessory for the PSP, but they probably release it sooner or later...

The reason the jack that came with the PSP has that chip thing is so that you can change tracks using the control on the cord. A radio may come out as an accessorie but that doesnt have anything to do with why the packaged jack is how it is.

Yeah, before when that was posted (Jan 28) we didn’t know there was a remote for the PSP, or at least didn’t know the remote had something other than a headphone output...
