i've been looking for a while but cant find any sources that can list any changes or modifications that sony will or has made to the PSP after it's initial launch. So i was wondering if any of you guys know or have any links you could share.(of course i'd hope the UMD ejection would be fixed but i was wondering if their was anything else too).

Also what would you guys like to see added///changed about the PSP from what we have seen and heard aboutfrom the release in Japan?

I'd love for extended battery life. and maybe even an extra battery in the bundle pack.

At best they may fix the UMD eject issue.

I would next expect to have an extra battery bundled or extra battery life. If they could have squeezed more juice out of the battery, they would have done so already and shipped it with such for the Japanese launch.

As for why they will not ship an extra battery, why do that when consumers will buy one if they want it. Then you can make up some of your loses on the handheld itself.

i would love to see any one saying the PSP suckes, while am holding it, then i could use the secret 'eject' feature, stright in between the eyes! :P

Well some people who have the DS find out about the PSP later on and then just says that is sucks but in reality they know it's better :D

FmanFORPS3
January 2nd, 2005, 03:03 AM
yes, if you compare the stats of the PSP and DS, youll see that PSP has a big advantage in moslty evrything...the only thing right now that i can think of is the touche screen, but then again, thats only ONE thing sorry DS, your just not up to the challenge :D

watashi
January 2nd, 2005, 04:42 AM
Actually I hate the touch screen, I think it's stupid...

MiThRaZoR
January 2nd, 2005, 06:17 AM
Well, and the battery. I would also have to agree on the touch screen and I don't like it either. I played a DS in EB Games (don't own one) and it was frickin' annoying.

More talk about PSP, less diss on the DS.

Crimson_King
January 3rd, 2005, 07:20 PM
yeah the screen is annoying and very awkward to use when playing games.

but it would kinda cool to modify your psp to shoot out sharpened UMD's to take out all the DS people.lol

but yah the main thing i'd love to see fixed is the battery life. and a battery in the bundle pack would be awesome too.

im pretty sure they will make different battery packs...if you look at the current battery pack it is 1800mAh...i have an RC car and theres all sorts of batteries for it, mine is 2400 mAh and if i could hook that up to my future PSP :s****** man that would be sweet... anyways i doubt that they wont make different battery packs

January 3rd, 2005, 08:43 PM
Will it be a battery pack or like just some dubble a batties?

Playstation4life
January 3rd, 2005, 08:51 PM
It will be a batery pack... Am sorry nintendo eat your heart out, sony is just better 8)

Crimson_King
January 5th, 2005, 05:56 PM
i don't know cause if they make a different battery pack then it will most likely be larger in size so therefore it might make it awkward.

FmanFORPS3
January 5th, 2005, 07:34 PM
well, i think they are able to fir more mAh into the same size packs...i've seen battery packs that hold 1600 mAh and others that held 3600 mAh, but both were the same size

does anyone know how many volts the PSP battery has?

Epsilon-Zero
January 5th, 2005, 08:31 PM
3.6 Volts 1800 mAh

its amazing that thing runs on just that

watashi
January 5th, 2005, 10:18 PM
Well, I think that it can be because of it's architecture...:D I think that's why it takes so long to ship each system out because Sony will win this Handheld War

Crimson_King
January 6th, 2005, 06:03 PM
3.6 VOLTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!that is amazing. but still battery life needs to be upped and by a lot.

FmanFORPS3
January 6th, 2005, 07:20 PM
we'll just have to wat and see if their going to release different battery packs

PS. i suggest we get back on topic about the release of the PSP in US.

Epsilon-Zero
January 7th, 2005, 10:00 AM
yeah pretty amazing. but wonder swan ran on just One AA battery. thats 1.5 volts and thats running a LCD screen aswell.

anyway.. i hope SCEA has their customer support fully running for the psp when it arrives. i remember it took them 3 weeks to get the support running for the ps2. i guess they just didnt think there would be defects. hopefully they learned a lesson

Crimson_King
January 7th, 2005, 06:07 PM
im sure they did and that the PSP will be in good condition and wont have the defects that the ones in Japan did(the superdeadly supersonic ejecting umd's lol)

Playstation4life
January 7th, 2005, 06:31 PM

I am going to have to buy another battery pack then because I play a lot on my GameBoy Advanced. I play at my house a lot tho so I just leave it on the charger when I play.

It will be a batery pack... Am sorry nintendo eat your heart out, sony is just better 8) You are such a fanboy. DS is wiping the floor with PSP in Japan. PSP sold 500,00 units in it's first couple of weeks, while it only took DS four days to reach that point. Also, the games are killing PSP. Ridge Racer, PSP's top selling game, sold 86,000 copies in it's first week. Wario Ware Touched and Super Mario 64 DS almost tripled that with Wario Ware selling over 249,000 copies and Mario 64 selling 241,000 copies. Before you run your fanboy mouth, try getting your facts straight first.

wwwoooo sorry... i just think the psp beats the ds in all departments... i didnt say it sold well... think about it next time... so think more logical before posting....

Have you played both the DS and PSP to form an educated opinion? Or are you just saying that, because it's the cool thing to do? I didn't really like the DS either, until I picked my friend's up and started playing it. The dual screens take some getting used to, but it's pretty cool in games like Metroid Prime. You can move point-of-view around by touching the bottom screen. It's pretty cool. I'm hooked temporarily until the PSP comes out ;) I can't wait.

The PSP only had 500,000 units for launch in Japan due to "shortages." You can't really compare the two. The PSP hasn't been released in the US. But once it hits Western shores, we'll be able to see which one is selling better. And it really doesn't matter which one sells more, it's about which one you prefer.

Exactly... and i cant really say much about the Ds as it hasnt been released in England... in fact it might have alread been released, but ive not heard of it yet...

If you know if the DS has been released in England let me know. thank you in advance

FmanFORPS3
January 20th, 2005, 09:13 PM
no it hasnt been released in england. it hasnt been released anwhere other than japan (and maybe china..the countries that have east asian people (not being racist or anything) )

Asian isn't a racial slur...it's just referring to people who live in Asia. Americans isn't offensive, is it? Or Canadians? I didn't think so ;)

January 20th, 2005, 09:20 PM
well, i just wanted to make sure...i guess i thought it wouldnt hurt if i put it in; and it didnt hurt anyone :D

Yeah, I'm not down with the whole "hurting people" thing. That's never good ;) You did nothing wrong, though. It's always good to be careful.

back to the subject, if the PSP is comin out in north america on march 15, then we have only....mmmm....only 54 days!

PeanutButterMunky
January 20th, 2005, 10:39 PM
If that is the date, then yes...I can't wait! They had one on display at my local import game store, and the PSP is friggin tiny! The screen is gargantuan, too. Me likey very much.

c.a.p
January 20th, 2005, 11:05 PM
The screen is gargantuan. That's true, the screen is 4.3 inches (About 10.9 cm) long.

FmanFORPS3
January 20th, 2005, 11:06 PM
no, from what ive been hearing its 4.3 inches diagonally

c.a.p
January 21st, 2005, 12:02 AM
no, from what ive been hearing its 4.3 inches diagonally Oh, sorry, I thought it was horizontaly. That makes it a little smaller, but that's still bigger than the DS's screens.

FmanFORPS3
January 21st, 2005, 12:06 AM
(no need to opologize) yes it does make it bigger. i think the DS screen is the same size as the SP screen :?

Do you mean the PSP screen? And no, the PSP screen is a great deal larger than the DS screen. Almost twice the size, in fact.

FmanFORPS3
January 21st, 2005, 01:06 AM
no, i mean if the PSP screen is watched on the regular TV screen...

PeanutButterMunky
January 21st, 2005, 01:06 AM
What are you talking about, Fman? :?

FmanFORPS3
January 21st, 2005, 01:09 AM
oh sorry, i just clicked "delete post" right now cause i relized that i was in the wrong thread when i was a few seconds too late.. (i got the message that told me someone already posted)

anyways, what i reallly meant to ask was if the SP screen was the same size as the DS (even though its off topic)...

Playstation4life
January 21st, 2005, 01:10 AM
Were talking about it in the stupid rumors in the PS3 forum (forgive us if its going REALLY off topic, but as soon as i shut the lid on it then it wont happen again)

PeanutButterMunky
January 21st, 2005, 01:13 AM
Ahhh...you mean the GameBoy Advance SP. Well for that, I haven't a clue  Does the GameCube have an adaptor for the DS like it does for the GameBoy to allow full-screen viewing on television sets? I don't know if they'd be the same size on the TV, but yes, that was a little [meaning a LOT] off-topic =)

Back on topic (This is titled "Improvements for US launch"), something they could improve upon is the value pack. From what I've heard, the Japanese value pack is a load of crap (No offense to the system, the stuff that comes with it is not worth an extra 50 U.S. Dollars.) It comes with incredibly cheap headphones, an extremely low memory stick, and a cheesy remote that has a cord (WTF, everything these days are wireless.) If they release a value pack in the U.S., it should definitely have higher quality peripherals. If it doesn't, you shouldn't waste $50.00 you could easily spend on a game on some useless peripherals. The PSP's fine without that stuff.

PeanutButterMunky
January 21st, 2005, 05:33 AM
- Longer battery life
- UMDs that don't pop out
- A non-stupid square button location/square button that doesn't stick

what non-stupid square button location/square button that doesn't stick?

There have been reports of the square button sticking because of the location on the PSP. It's very close the screen [I think, perhaps, that it may be getting caught on the screen, or something to that nature]. It's more noticeable if you've seen the disection job that Lik-Sang did when they got their imports. The square button is pushed in almost near the center of the other 3 buttons. They could have just made the PSP a few millimeters longer, thus, solving the issue :?

FmanFORPS3

o, ok. i've never heard of that before but im glad that the issue is over with...i sure hope sony is working on a newer, longer power battery pack

The issue isn't over with. I was making a personal suggestion on the matter. I do hope they fix the button issue by US launch, but you never know.

the only problem with ur suggested method, PBM, is that if they were to make it longer then they would have to make new molds and extend everthing inside to acommadate for the xtra length. and that would be far to expenxive then some other solution that could deal with the button itself and not the location.

I'm already aware of that...it's only an idea. The world isn't going to end because of it.

Sony isn't going to fix the problem, so there is no other solution. We're just going to have to "deal with it"...as Sony said. But the problem has only come about with a small minority of people, so it's not big of a deal.

FmanFORPS3
January 25th, 2005, 07:48 PM
yes, but now i bet those Nintendo fanboys are going to tr and make it the biggest deal EVER. hopefully it wont grow to a situation that big.

I wasn't saying they were or were not going to fix it, I was more implying that your suggested way was unpractical, and that if anything were to be done, which there isnt, would more likely deal with the button itself.

You don't need to tell me twice, I already got your point. Do you need to explain it one more time, in case you didn't believe that I got your point again?

But anyway, now it's official. They're NOT going to fix the button problem for US launch, as pointed out in the other thread.
