I want to bet in this, but this won't be fair unless everyone bets the same amount of points. My return on a 1000 point bet isn't as good as the guy that bets 100 on Mayweather. Meaning if Mayweather wins, why should the guy that risked 100 points get the same winnings as myself that risked 1000? It's not right...figure out how the winnings work fairly and I'll be in. Leave it like it is and I'm out or I'll just bet 100 maybe...actually make that 1 point. :)

so right now the prize is 4400

I would join, but the betting system has faults.

As of right now, there are 2 people who picked De La Hoya. So that means, if De La Hoya wins than the 4400 points are split between the two, each getting 2200 points each...which works.

Now the faulty Side:
There are 5 members that picked Mayweather. So if Mayweather wins, than each member gets 880 points each. Which means that suckadickcheaney and pctrips loses 120 points (Even if Mayweather wins), while the other 3 members gain points.

So, I suggest changing it.
Have each member put in a fixed amount of points. Whether its 100 a piece or 1000 a piece, it has to be the same amount put in for each player. That way, each player on the winner side will gain points.

I'll gladly join if you decide to change it.8)

I was thinking about it but seeing I have no job and only about 50 bucks im either going to try and find 15 more for a ps3 game or just buy UFC 71 which is like 2 weeks away and Liddell is in it.

"To be the champ, you have to beat the champ"

mayweather did not beat the champ. even his own dad said so. this is why i have lost my love for boxing years ago. the judges are horrible and so was the ref on the first fight. there was NO standing 8 count in that fight but yet he gave one. the other guy had him finished but the ref stepped in. mayweather has no class at all. he pretty much spit in the face of all mexicans walking out to the ring the way he did. he certainly did not back up all the crap he was talking.

iShotTheSheriff
May 6th, 2007, 03:57 PM
He didnt even try to fight, just sat back, took a few shots but no genuine counter punching and no attacking. Even when de la hoya was extremely tired in the 11th and 12th, that was bad but mayweather not taking that oppurtunity to even attempt to take him out was worse, decision went the wrong way

pctrips

I didn't see it, but from what I've read online it seemed like the right decision. The punch statistics favored Mayweather in shots landed, connect percentage, and power punches. Not sure how much controversy there really is with this fight. Regarding his dad, his dad is part of De La Hoya's team, not Mayweather's. His dad used to train De La Hoya I think.

fights are not decided on total punches landed, thrown, percentage, etc. they are judged on a scoring system. that i why floyd sr. said that on the scoring system de la hoya should have won. judges can not look at the punch stats when scoring a round. de la hoya chased and mayweather ran the entire fight. mayweather does not deserve to be champ. he does not have the killer instinct to finish the fight. he relies on his quickness to get a decision from the judges.

as for floyd sr. he is still a trainer at golden boy promotions. he just didn't train oscar for this fight. as the old saying goes "to be the champ, you have to beat the champ."

To be the champ you have to beat the champ? Well tell me who has beaten Mayweather? Last I checked he was 38-0....what about Oscar? Last I checked he's lost 3 out of his last 5 fights. And if you hit the guy more than he hits you, you're more accurate, and you land more power punches how does that not determine that you performed better in the fight?

Umm, that's boxing. Forget what Floyd St. says, he's Oscar's trainer for one, and he's bitter with his son. Call it damage control, he wants his job back.

I guess to some of you, stalking your opponent around the ring and not hitting them = winning, Mayweather dodged and rolled almost everything De La Hoya threw, meanwhile he picked him apart with nice jabs and lead rights. I think the crowd reactions swayed people's opinions too much. Mayweather fought the type of fight he fights, and outbox Oscar easily to win.

of course you'll love the last round because floyd finally had the balls to actually exchange with oscar. did you see their faces at the post fight press conference? floyd's right side of his face was swollen and oscar didn't even look like he fought the night before.

To be the champ you have to beat the champ? Well tell me who has beaten Mayweather? Last I checked he was 38-0....what about Oscar? Last I checked he's lost 3 out of his last 5 fights. oscar was the champ going into the fight. floyd was fighting for oscar's belt. that is the reason why i said floyd had to beat oscar in order to take the belt. oscar has had his share of belts. last time i checked oscar was fighting fighters way out of his weight class and wasn't fighting cans like floyd has his entire career. honestly, who has floyd beaten that is worth mentioning. like i mentioned before punch stats mean squat when it comes to judging the fight. ask any real boxing fan and they will confirm. if that was the case then oscar should have won against felix trinidad.

Umm, that's boxing. Forget what Floyd St. says, he's Oscar's trainer for one, and he's bitter with his son. Call it damage control, he wants his job back.

trainer or not he's still his father. oscar and floyd sr didn't leave in good terms. floyd hugged oscar or ran the entire fight. he stuck him w/ a couple of good shots but nothing deadly. this isn't the first time vegas has robbed oscar on a decission. floyd finally fights a legitimate boxer for once in his life that is out of his prime and wins a contraversal split dec and wants to retire? wow. mosley called him out but floyd turned him down. finally big names want to fight him and he's hanging up the gloves.

Oscar's had a couple bad decision go against him (this was not one of them...), but...he's also been given 3 gifts in my opinion. (Sturm, Sweet Pea, Quartey) In the end, it's all balanced out.

Bottom line to me, Oscar is a fighter who fought the absolute best in his time, but really never beat them.

ImSiCkOfYoU
May 7th, 2007, 06:05 PM
so if any of you were judgeing this fight who would you give the fight to? the agressor thats trying to fight and win? or the guy thats running around the ring avoiding the fight, sneaking in a couple punches here and there, hoping that its enough to win? my choice is clear, but dont get me wrong mayweather is the best pound for pound fighter. but this was not his best fight

RedOrb_Collector
May 7th, 2007, 07:13 PM
Floyd may have got in more punches, but few of them were as effective as Oscar's. A lot of their power just seemed absorbed by Oscar putting up his hands. Even in 10th and 11th round where Oscar was fatigued Floyd didn't do anything to look like he was in control. A few more shots yes, but Oscar deflected most of them. Floyd looked to have got the worst of it after it was done, damage wise.

floyd weighed in at 150 and 148 night of the fight. all he has is speed so no surprise that he didn't want to make the weigh in at 154. if he's the best pound for pound fighter in the world then why be scared and run when someone is stepping up to you. he signed the fight at 154 but since speed is all he had he just drank a lot of water before weigh ins so he can get close enough to fight. floyd is a boring fighter that loves going to decision whenever someone is a threat to him. mosley challenges him and floyd declines. go figure, a more talented fighter w/ speed steps up and floyd pulls the retired card. but yet if oscar wants a rematch, he would take it in a heartbeat. being quick and elusive does not win a fight when fighting for the belt in my book and in the book of many. floyd is a chump that even backed out on fighting sean sherk after all the BS floyd was talking about the UFC.

i dedicate this song to oscar de la hoya... from floyd mayweather jr.

http://www.20at.com/media/Queen-We-Are-The-Champions.mp3

I've paid my dues -
Time after time -
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime -
And bad mistakes
I've made a few
I've had my share of sand kicked in my face -
But I've come through

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting - till the end -
We are the champions -
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions - of the world -

I've taken my bows
And my curtain calls -
You brought me fame and fortuen and everything that goes with it -
I thank you all -

But it's been no bed of roses
No pleasure cruise -
I consider it a challenge before the whole human race -
And I ain't gonna lose -

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting - till the end -
We are the champions -
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions - of the world -
