Sonic was by far the one of the best series of the 1990’s. It was the one game that tried to compete with Mario and actually had a chance. But ever since the fall of the Dreamcast, the newer Sonic games have been bad. They’ve been really bad. If I were to take a crap in a GameCube and turn it on, it would be a better game. But ever since news of this game surfaced, people began to have hope that it would change the series for the better, and for the most part, it’s a mixed experience. I’m not going to spoil the whole story. I’m just going give you pros and cons of the experience.
Pros:
+ This game is by far one of the best looking games I've seen for the Wii. Sega actually took time and tweaked the graphics. The graphics look like a last generation Xbox title, which is great compared to the other games that have been coming out.
+ The controls actually work. Moving Sonic and making him jump and run and attack are a load of fun. The only control mechanic that is a pain is backing up, and you barely have to do that.
+ This game has an RPG element to it. You can gain levels and get extra attacks to perform. It really adds depth into the game.
Cons:
- The story is terrible.
- While the game graphics are good, the cutscenes look like paper cut outs.
- This game is very hard. There is nothing wrong with a hard game, but they make it unfair.
- The game gets repetitive. The game has different levels, however you have to do the same goals in each one, so you get bored fast.
- The Voice acting and dialouge rapes your ears.
- The music rapes your ears too. Especially because there are only 3 songs that keep on repeating.
Overall, give this game a rent first. It's fun if you love Sonic or if you're looking for something new. But if not, go for The Godfather, or Super Paper Mario.
Graphics: 8/10
Gameplay: 7/10
Presentation: 5/10
Value: 6/10
Sound: 5/10.
Total: 6.2/10
