Wow, my first new thread. I'm excited. I looked around for this and I didn't find it! Are there any Harry Potter fans out there? The new book has just been dated. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released on July 21st! I'm so excited (and horrified, and terribly sad)! Anyone else a fan?
Here's the quote!
JKRowling.com has recently been updated with news (http://www.jkrowling.com/textonly/en/news_view.cfm?id=97) that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final book in the series, will be released on July 21st, 2007, one week after the fifth movie hits theaters.
Scholastic has followed with a press release in which Lisa Holton, President of Scholastic Children's Books said, 'We are thrilled to announce the publication date of the seventh installment in this remarkable series. We join J.K. Rowling's millions of readers - young and old, veterans and newcomers - in anticipating what lies ahead.' You can read the full press release here (http://www.scholastic.com/aboutscholastic/news/press_02012007_CP.htm).
The hardcover will sell for $34.99 with the deluxe edition fetching $65.00. These high prices could mean the book will be longer than any of the previous six.

Harry is going to die a glorious death.
Somehow, Dumbledore will revive (I'm still not convinced that he died in the first place)
Some kind of rebirth is experienced.
etc.

I think that at the end Harry will have a big fight against Voldemort and Harry will die along with Sirius Black who helps Harry beat Voldemort but Snake helps Voldemort and they Harry and Sirius die.

Yeh, it is almost destined that Harry will survive, Voldy will die.
Women writers don't do sad endings.
(That was unbelievably sexist, and a joke)

Lol, funny read. I have a feeling in the not so distant future Voldemort will be saying... "Harry, I AM your father!"

You do know that Sirius Black died in the fifth book: Order of the Phoenix. He fell through the veil in the Department of Mystries. Even JK Rowling said he was "definitely dead", http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sirius_Black. The ending might not be too great, probably anticlimatic. Oh, the good old days when I read those books in fifth grade.

Meh I'll just pick one up and skip to the last page.
Since the Order of the Phoenix the whole series has gone down hill.

Sorry to burst you bubble but that is the retail price. When the book comes out most stores have a 60% off sale making the price like 15$. Amazon is already doing that. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0545010225/ref=amb_link_4077732_1/102-3494117-7430562

I'm going to buy the book and just post the ending all over the web, ruining the ending and becoming the coolest guy on the interwebs.

All I know is, is that I am going to get the book on the first day it comes out. Personally, I think for Voldemort to die, Harry has to sacrifice himself. That is what I think is going to happen.

Harry sacrifices himself, dying in order to save everyone. Meanwhile, Ron and Hermione fall in love and have a little boy named Harry. End of story. By the way, Harry's aunt, uncle and cousin die.

Harry and Voldy die in the most epic battle ever. Boom.
Vague, general... that's how I like to conclude the books, so she can surprise me ;).
Let's hope she doesn't do anything similar to the sub-par conclusions by people on forums.

That's what I expected too...a typical ending for any movie/book with a
hero .
Either that, or Harry defeats voldemort, but harry also has a kid which he didn't know about
(don't ask me how ;)) then his kid is the "new harry potter" and they will start another series.

I'm anxiously waiting for the 7th book. Order of the phoenix was my fav. I think we'll see sirius alive in the last book because he falls behind the curtain when he gets hit by a spell from bellatrix and loopin tells harry that he's dead and then nothing about his funeral is written in the book. And if Rowling kiils harry then it'll be cruelity on her part, considering the fact that how much she has put harry through in all those books. I feel very sorry for his character. And besides if she kills him fans will probably protest and she'll have to revive him like arther did for sherlock holmes.
