View Full Version : What is your *personal * attach rate?
Cyrann
January 9th, 2007, 08:06 PM
I'm curious what everyones Blu-Ray/HD-DVD movie attach rate it?
For those of you that do not know what attach rate means (And im not trying to sound like a pompus jerk): In the simplest of terms, it means how many Blu-Ray or HD-DVD's have you personally purchased since you bought your hardware.
If you have both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD, please share...
NOTE: TALLADEGA NIGHTS DOES NOT COUNT, IT WAS FREE!
NOW, please post like the example (Just copy-paste and post!):
Equipment: PS3
# of Blu-Ray: 3 (Swordfish, Crank (I got it 10 minutes ago), Black Hawk Down)
# of HD-DVD: n/a
Comment: If you want to comment on the above poster or quote and then talk about it, then so be it... Just please try to post in a similar mannar to my example, so its easy for everyone to view and/or discriminate between someones attach rate and another memebers question or comment!
And most of all I hope this sparks some discussion about what people like the most, and what kind of attach rate the Ps3 is seeing. I understand there are links that show, I'm more curious about the forum seeing that many patrons bought the machine as a console first and Blu-Ray player second
There are many Blu-Rays that I am looking at, but alot of my favorites are not out yet. I read an article today that said the average attach rate for HD-DVD (of the 175K units sold) is 24. I dont believe it, so I wanted to see my fellow gamers opinions...
P.S. I don't know what happened to my font, after changing the NOW, it totally got crazy, sorry!

Comment: In the near future I am going to go Blu-Ray crazy. I just love watching my favorite movies in high definition. CES 2007 really showed off some amazing titles that are a must have for me. The Matrix FTW!

Comment: I would have several more, but our local stores are generally sold out of the ones I am looking for. I will probably buy two or three Blu-ray movies per month in lieu of the DVDs I used to buy.
By the way, great idea for a thread! I was wondering this myself, about both Blu-ray movies and PS3 games.
EDIT: Added Black Hawk Down and Stargate today. :)

Comment: I go about once every 2 weeks to buy new Blu-ray or HD DVDs as new ones come out every so often and here in Canada we usually get some releases a bit later than in the states, right now there is probably 3-4 Blu-ray discs and about 5-6 HD DVDs id buy.

Id say renting is more accurate of how many movies of any format is watched, I think its better to see which ones are actually BOUGHT.

That defeats the notion of attach rate. It only matters if the consumer buys them. It shows that the customer/consumer/adopter has made a commitment to the format, as well as, spent $ to keep/buy the item.
If rented discs would count then I would have to list between 40-50 Blu-Ray movies.

I havent even watched my Talladega yet. I saw it a few days before i got my ps3. Truthfully i didnt get it to watch movies on. i feel that it lessens the life of your console. call me crazy about not wanting to, but i still have my original ps2. i may have watched like 5 movies on it.

At the moment I have yet to buy a Blu-Ray Disc or HD DVD. Until I get a HDTV they're fairly worthless. I was tempted to get Army Of Darkness on HD-DVD/DVD combo, but I have it on DVD already, and I wasn't going to shell out $35 for a movie I already have with no extras.
I have bought three PS3 games though. I expect about another five in the coming months.

At this point, the PS3 makes a better movie player than gaming console with the lack of games. If only it could upcovert my DVD's, I could get rid of my standalone player.

I guess i'm just really curious, i'm getting at least 2 later today (it's 12:27 AM on Sunday when i posted) because of the buy 1, get 1 free going on at BB. You must have missed out on the Buy.com/Google Checkout deal then? If you used Google checkout on Buy.com for a $50 or more purchase, they knocked off $20 instantly. I got most of movies when they had that deal going on, I would pick a $30 movie and a $20 movie, and paid $30 for both of them, so $15 a movie. Made about 20 different orders.

i didn't miss out, i refuse to buy online as of now (i have my reasons) but this was still a better deal, lol (even if only by $5, its still 10%) because this was buy 1, get 1 free, I almost got 2 $30 movies, and 2 $25 movies, so i would have payed $55, and gotten $55 for free (it would have worked because i was with a friend and we were going to purchase seprately. If i would have done that, it would have been $55 for 4 movies, 55/4 = 13.75 per movie. I ended up with the same deal you got, because i just couldn't justify getting those other 2 just because they were on sale.. So in the end, BB had a better deal, but only if it was utilized, and i got 1 $30 movie, and 1 $25 movie, so mine were $15 each, same as yours. :-)
edit: i also should have stated that i could have payed less for non $30 movies (if you get 2 $25 movies, you get $25 off ever purchase of $50) The selection was so small, good thing it had at least 2 good movies, lol

Wow, you refuse to buy online? In 2007?
Anyways, what made the Buy.com deal MUCH better is that is was valid with ANY movie, not just a select six or seven. So I wasn't limited in my choices. Looking back at my e-mails I got 24 Blu-rays that way, and 18 HD-DVD's.

Hey there's not a lot going on in that movie, although she looks pretty good in HD.
She'll do until they release a new Tomb Raider game. Lara will look GOOD in 1080.
I think Casino Royale will be great on BD. I can't figure why they haven't released the Spidermans on BD yet. Although they will probably release them near the Spiderman 3 release date to help the hype.
