BTW...I bought the movie...I never watched it before. STUPID ending.
I experienced about 10 freezes (picture freeze for about 5 sec) in the movie.
Have anyone experienced that ?

Wouldn't the reviews state this?
I read a review, and all it said was that it was a great transfer and worth purchasing...
No mention of it only working on one player or anything.
Is it because it's dual layer?
if that's the case, don't worry, all the players will support it by the time players are affordable.
Read the article, and it says it's a Java thing... that will be fixed via firmware update... so no worries :-)

Yep, same here.
No problems and I liked the movie.
Gabriel why did you think the ending was stupid?
The entire movie(even the title) was pretty much leading up to/about what eventually happened.

Sony will release a firmware soon to correct these issues with their standalone player.

Was it based on the book Descent... where there is a devil creature that possesses people to live on forever?

Nope.
it was about a group of female thrill seekers who go spelunking in a heretofore undiscovered cave system.
Only to discover there's a race of creatures living down in the dark.
There's a lot more deeper psychological issues going on than just the creatures, but I don't want to spoil the movie or it's ending ;)

Yeah, I experienced 3-4 freezes watching Descent for the first time on my PS3 today and the disk is brand new. I am probably going to return it to Circuit City if I can. Yes the ending did suck.

When the main character fell and hit her head while trying to escape, she dreamt that she escaped the cave. However the second time she woke up, was reality. She was still in the cave, and she was seeing her dead daughter(or so she thought). In actuallity. the stress of losing her whole family, all her friends, finding out one of her friends was having an affair with her husband before he was killed(the one she drove the cave pick through her knee so the creatures would kill her), and having to become a homicidal maniac just to survive the cave drove her bat**** insane. That's why the title has two meaning. 1 is the descent down into the bowels of the earth via the cave, and 2 is the main characters descent into madness. At the end of the movie the main character is sitting there in the dark thinking she sees her dead daughter, when she is actually just staring blankly into a torch in front of her. She's left in the cave, obviously out of her mind, and has no hope of escaping.
Hope this helps clear up your confusion ;)

Wait wait, I've watched it twice now. Where are you getting the idea that Juno was having an affair with her husband? Did I miss something?
I thought she drove the pick into her knee because Juno accidentally killed the one girl when she came up behind her and didn't admit to it or try to help her?

Just watched The Descent last night. Pretty good movie. Very dark (literally and figuretively). I liked it.

That was one of the reasons(her friend). In the beginning, when they pushed Juno into the water, and Sarah's husband fished her out, the way they were looking at each other you could just tell. Then in the car, if you look at the husband you know he was feeling guilty about something, which is about when he crashed the car. Then later in the movie, Sarah says "Love each day." when the girls were gathering in the cabin, and then says that was something her husband told her all the time. Juno tells Sarah that we all lost something in the crash. Then when Sarah's friend hands Sarah Juno's locket that she yanked from Juno's neck the her friend said it was from her(Sarah's) husband, and that she's sorry. (I know this part is hard to understand because of the sucking neck wound, but it's there). Then Sarah looks at the back of the locket, and it says "Love each day." Which again is something Sarah's husband said all the time.
There you go :)

yeps it's what I understood too.But it's stupid that she became crazy only after being few hours in the cave...if they where there for days...then I 'll understand better,

Well you have to understand it wasn't just the cave.
She was taking medication to deal with the loss of her family. She left that behind in the cabin, so no medication, plus the weight of losing everything, finally just drove her bat****.
