Good: amazing detail and graphics wise great job. Single player is intense and very fun. Also they have more multiplayer achievements now.

Bad: The new type of multiplayer is really really weak. I have tried countless times and spent a good amount of time just trying to get into a session. "no sessions avaliable" was what I got the most. Id have to say this is pretty weak and if u dont join a quick match you have to wait around for 10-15 mins in order to get into the game witch is a short game. Then back to waiting if they would have went with the COD2 type style of online this game would be sweet and just add a war mode.

I give it a 7.0

Online is great, with absolutely no lag. Player matches are fine for me, but I cant joind ranked games. Only worked once for me. Other than that the games was a bit dissapointing at first but I quickly changed my mind. The graphics and amount of things going on in single player is amazing.

Single player mode is great. Love the graphics and game play. Multiplayer is very disappointing. Does not have the same game play as COD2. After playing live for 2 hours I went back to COD2 to get my fix. I'll keep trying to get the hang of 3 live for a while. I've only had it one day.

Well if people still keep saying that, then I will just have to say thank you for telling this (I was going to buy CoD3 just because of multiplayer). If it really isn't good then I'm going for Rainbow Six.

My advice, stay away from Call of Duty 3 and wait for Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway.

In the meanwhile go get Gears of War and Rainbow Six: Vegas.

While I was playing live there were some players that thought it was 10 times better than COD2 but the majority of players were disappointed. The vehicles were fun but you just can't see anyone. The maps are way to complicated compared to 2 and the tactile fell, weapons shot and everything is totally different than 2. When you join a game you don't know what score the game is going to, they have this stupid mode where when you get shot you usually do not die but require a medic to revive you but if you respawn it is shown as a kill etc. There is no on screen desplay of your deaths and kills you have to bring up the leader board everytime you want to see the progress of the game.

Wait so all you had bad to say about it was the online experience right now and gave it a 7.0? So for the Playstation 3 do you think this would be a good pick up because the single player mode seems great and the graphics are superb.

IF you just want it for the single player mode it's a great game. But I bought it for the online play. That's what disappointed me.

The single player I'd say is better than COD2 but the actual story and locations aren't as good (most of the locations in COD2 I've actually been to before) so doesn't mean as much although the graphics in single-player are glorious, it feels really gritty and dirty - as it should.

Multiplayer is far different from COD2, meaning that gone are the days of the small map with a few players, sneeking from room to room trying to keep cover. Now it's just large open maps where you rely on your speed and gun skills to keep you alive. For some reason the killing seems more calculated than before, meaning that shots don't seem to be reactive to placement as much as before -- headshots and body shots were clearly defined in COD2, you could choose exactly where each shot would land (more so in single-player; you could shoot someone in the leg and watch him fall to his knees), it had a certain feeling when playing....one of the best I've ever had in an FPS when shooting someone. That has now gone a little, it always seems like you have to shoot them twice to kill, no matter where you hit them....not so satisfying.

Graphics in multiplayer are a world apart from COD2, the textures have been beefed up signifantly aswell as the lighting. It's the AA that has been implemented to this version that is the key upgrade. There are NO jaggies, literally NONE on anything at any draw distance.

8.5/10

-Graphics very nice great atmosphere due to this
-Gameplay on single-player more frantic now with bigger fire-fights
-Online has been dumbed down somewhat and the subtle points that I loved about COD2 have been subdued.

from what I heard there having server issues and its supposed to be fixed soon. Im not sure tho I cant get into ranked matches or some other matches either takes time. Hopefully they will fix it and everything will be alot smoother.

Key to getting into ranked matches:

Go when you know lots of ppl are free! 5pm - 10pm on weekdays
and like 12pm - 10pm on Weekends...

after 10 it dies.. :(

I dislike the COD3 online. Back to COD2 for me. What a letdown.

Is it really that bad CompGeek? I thought the single player was going to be the big letdown because it was mostly parts of the war that aren't talked majorly about or the not so popular ones, but I do dislike the battlefield style set up and the rumor of the next COD not being WWII seems even more battlefieldish.

IMO, the SP is better. Physics, better graphics, the works. The multiplayer mechanis aren't even remotely COD series. The guys' feet slide across the ground, the weapons feel completely different, and the guys run insanely fast. It's not COD anymore. Maybe it's fun, but it just killed what used to be the best gameplay in the world.

Oh man well I wasn't going to get it I was going to have Vegas and Gears as my two main 360 games this year. Thanks for the heads up guys I knew something was up when Garnett gave it a 6.5 on 1up.

My review: This Game SUCKS!

Reason: The multiplayer has turned into another Halo, and is no longer fun to play. Single player just sucks. Period. It lacks a good story line and has lost whatever COD2 had, that made the game fun.

Overall, this game was a waste of money.

...now back to Gears. :D

for the playstation 3? even the nintendo rep said that COD3 looks better on the 360 than it does on the ps3. Single player isnt the only reason why people bought COD3 its for the multiplayer online. Im assuming once the server gets fixed and the get rid of the issues concering ranked match and regular match it will be better.

CoD 3 is a good, well made, polished up, mildly cinematic game. I just have one BIG problem with it... The gameplay is less intense than the second installment. Knowing that it wasnt infinity ward that developed it, I clearly understand why this game suffers from that problem. My problem with it, is that i expected MORE than what ive expected in CoD 2, the game also seemed shorter but nevermind about that now. Ive never played the original CoD but Ive been told that it was indeed intense, and playing CoD 2 and its new health system, it is obviously more intense. CoD 3 was less intense, and it wasnt better than CoD 2, and it just didnt have "IT".

Who cares? They didn't nail the gameplay, and they sure as hell didn't nail the "30 seconds of fun" that they should have. Therefore, the good graphics are meaningless.

Does anyone else think that the multiplayer is somewhat out of control sometimes? Example. i tried it for the first time on Friday night. i joined a match, chose my character, waited for the respawn counter and BAM! Shot dead before I took two steps. Respawn in 6...5...4..3..2..1 BAM! Shot dead. This went on for about 6 more times and I exited from the match disgusted by what had happened.

Actually, CoD2 regenerative health system made the combat A LOT less intense... (I've played both). Trust me, you're a lot more nervous when every hit counts. Hiding behind a wall for five seconds and coming out fresh as a daisy just ruins the realism and intensity of the whole game...

I've been wondering though: is Call of Duty 3 the same story line as 2 PC version? I'm asking, cause some of the cut scenes I saw of 3, with the planes hitting the church, are present in exactly the same way in the PC version of 2--so I assumed Call of Duty 3, released only on console, was the complete port of 2 (as opposed to big red one)?

The game randomly keeps freezing up on me, its totally unplayable! I tried 2 copies already, and the same thing happens. It also seems to freeze way quicker when playing on 1080i than 480i/p. Is it a problem with my xbox, coz I tried the same disc on a friend's 360 and it works perfectly on his?? None of my other games freeze up, just COD3.

I just got my 360 yesterday with COD3 and more and its my first experience with COD on next gen, and to be honest its satisfying I mean coming from current gen COD2, to COD3 next gen I'm excited and its the best COD to me.

I give it a 9/10

P.S. All u reviewers need to stop comparing and just give a fair review

I said that because I don't have a 360. Only a Playstation 3 and was wondering if it would be a good pick up.

i think the call of duty series should have stopped after the 2nd one... the 3rd is the same crap... run around shot stuff..blow up anti-aircraft guns, drive around in a jeep.. whatever i can do that in the first two games...

i bet Call of Duty 4 is gonna be present times like BF2... Call of Duty 5 = 2142

for ps3, the melee controls with the motion is so amazing...makes the game ten times better, but without it the game will still be really good....i was shocked on how you could use the controller to your advantage in wacking people in the head....but whatever just a good game all around
