Microsoft plans to release a new downloadable mode for Ninja Gaiden 2 on 25th July.

This is Mission Mode and it has 25 different mini-challenge stages to aim for high scores on. These will be a mixture of using different weapons or staying alive as long as possible as well as lots of other rules and regulations.
Your scores will be fed into leaderboards so your friends can see them and be coaxed into besting them. The Mission Mode challenge bundle will cost 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60).
Also, available tomorrow will be 30 videos explaining where all of the skulls in the action slasher are. Which is nice.
Ninja Gaiden 2 came out in June and was a gory and balletic feast of action.

Should really have included this in the game to begin with, 800pts is a fair bit to be adding a few weeks after release.

Besides, I'm still having my *** handed to me by Mentor mode in the Campaign right now.

How far are you on Mentor? I was just starting to feel comfortable and now i'm at chapter 8.I hated it even on warrior, gotta love those rocketlauncher spammers.I've got over 150 000 of essence though, i'm prepared.

Chapter 8 boss right now. I just turned it off, I can beat him with perseverence but I'm not in the mood for raised blood pressure this hour of the morning. I've just been hacking away at it at a more leisurely pace. Ninja Gaiden is one of those few games where I will slog away at it till I can feel the pressure in me building up but and then I get so angry I simply must beat it, which inevitably leads to some serious tantrums and neighbour disturbing verbal abuse.

I bombed them with the bow until they were close then i ran to the other side and killed them with ninpo and the scythe.

It's not a bad upgrade.

Probably worth the points, if you felt the original game was worth the price.

You are surely a greater Ninja than I. I dunno how you manager 150,000 essence. I have only upgraded the Scythe and the Dragon Blade and I am struggling hitting 30,000 at the best of times before needing more health etc.

I am in Chapter 10 with the fight on the stairs. What the crap, all those Ninja's with exploding shurikens are absolutely wasting me.

[Edit]

gah **** it. How did you do that part? It's annoying me because I barely have a chance to defend let along attack, I'm just being hammered with exploding shurikens and to rub it in some the save point is a fair way back so I have to keep going back and fighting that stupid dragon again (not hard just time consuming).

[Edit edit]

So I worked out an easy way to do it and what do you know, I forgot to get the damned Life of a Thousand Gods at the bottom of the stairs; so now I am going back to my last save before finishing the stairs. Sigh

I just skipped that part, i had 400 000 by then so i didn't see the point. That's probably the only time i skipped killing enemies, the combat really gets my blood pumpin.I did find it surprising that i had that much, but i used the ultimate technique a lot.You get a lot more essence that way. I save those Life of a Thousand Gods for the harder parts also.

Did either of you do the Tests of Valor on Mentor? Me and a friend are going through it now, on Chapter 6 I think. We skipped the Test on Chp.3 or 4 (with the exploding shuriken ninjas and the Warlocks) after literally hours of trying and are having some trouble with the 'werewolf + demon dogs' test on the current chapter. It's pretty damn crazy.

Haven't done any tests of valor, I couldn't be bothered to do them really.
