Are the guild wars worth buying it?
The gameplay is awesome and all.

The good thing about Guild Wars is that you have to only buy the game and then you can play for free online. There is no monthly subscription. The bad thing is that when you play PVE you will only see yourself and your party and it can be very boring and depressing. Also, the level cap is quite low as well.

Its not too bad but not the best either. But when you consider that you don't have to pay a monthly fee you can just deal with the shortcomings.

I wouldn't say that level cap is bad thing. To me, its good thing. I hate pointless grinding like in WoW so lvl20 limit is great. Then you just have to focus on your skills, build and party and not so much your huger-than-life-shoulder pats and big numbers.

I also hate level grinding but only lvl 20 is too low in my opinion. I'm still waiting for Guild Wars 2 though and I may get back to it. My biggest complaint is still PvE. It's so desolate and I get depressed not seeing anyone else when I'm out hunting, killing, doing a quest, etc... I understand the reasons behind it but I just don't like that aspect of the game.

I played Guildwars for a bit, there is not much (if any) really good end-game stuff, you have that underworld and wintery dwarf dungeon but nothing else.
Still though, its a good game and well worth playing.

If you can, you should try to get some friends to play with you, its not really good alone, as there is zero possibility to accidentally bump into someone while questing, and it is dry playing alone.
Since Guildwars is past that stage where it has a high population of starter players , its difficult to find people who want to join you for particular quests or missions. Its much more fun when you play with some friends as you have people to play with guaranteed.

So are you trying to say that this game is only fun/entertaining with my own friends? What if you're friends are WoW freaks..Haha I hate that game so much. What are the positive things about this game even? Is it even better then WoW?

There is a level 20 cap but there is a reason for that. When you put stats into attributes, its not permanent because they want you to change it for different builds.

I see. But are all the series worth buying? Like is it fun even without friends? Just doing quests/random's? I just want an awesome gameplay game. So I can enjoy it and so can other's while I'm playing.

In my opinion this game is NOT fun if you play online. I prefer PvE to PvP and this game has the most boring PvE that I've every played. I'm waiting to see if Guild Wars 2 will have a different system.

Its not that its not fun without friends, but for many of the missions to progress properly, you need to find 7 other people to run through it. Since this game has been going for a while, apart from parts near the end it will be hard to just pick up people to do the quests and missions so likely you will be on your own. Where as with friends they can quest with you and do missions together making the whole experiance much more fun.
In my opinion the graphics in Guild wars are better, certain elements in PVP are better (that one to win favor to get into underworld where you have loads of different teams) and also you can get your character to high level quickly, and play at end game level without much "work", where as in WoW sometimes it can feel like work. You can just jump straight in and make a decently powerful character for PVP.
But, there is a lack of things to do in guildwars compared to WoW, like proffesions, large battlegrounds (40 vs 40), massive raids (25 people in one dungeon) and one on one dueling anywhere.
But some people find Guildwars better WoW, it just depends on what you want in a game.
