Super Stardust HD Late Boomer Trophy

Hi, I'm in need of some very urgent help with this trophy. I keep on trying to get it but to no success. The highes I've managed so far is 13, so could someone please offer some advice or tips. +rep of course to any helpful and valuable help. Thanks.

You have to purchase the co-op expansion pack to get split screen co-op, but I believe that has been pulled from the servers due to the recent Firmware 2.40 errors that people have been experiencing.

Just out of curiosity, which difficulty level are you playing SSHD? If you're having a tough time completing a trophy, you might want to try it on Easy. It took me forever to get the 10x multiplier on the normal difficulty setting, but had relatively no probs on Easy. Might work for you with the Bomber trophy.

There is no 'Easy' on the other game modes.

Bomber, Survival etc.. are just the one difficulty 8)


The only thing I can recommend for Bomber (and the Late Boomer Trophy) is to conserve the bombs. Obviously though :p What I mean though, is hold off as long as possible before you use a bomb to blow up the bomb ships.. sometimes you'll get one spawn in very close to another already orbiting the planet.. and you can knock both ships out with one bomb.

Other than that, its down to luck and practice. Getting a good random spawn of bomb ships and the blue walls also change the game dramatically..

1) Follow the first ship.
---Get infront of the ship just before the red mines come down. If you get lucky the red mines will hit the rocks and blow the ship along with it giving you 2 bombs without using any.
---If you can't get it that way, just keep following the ship until the second ship drops. Hope it drops near the first one. If it does blow both.

To me you have to get 13 or 14 bombs in 2 ships (14 is hard, very hard to get without using a bomb).

The rest is dodge and weave slowly, and pray the ships drop near you. Hate it when I'm at 14 bombs and a ship drops few inches away that I have no way of getting to it. Then it goes the opposite way.

So far I haven't gotten the trophy, but come so close. Keep trying, because you may get lucky and everything will be in the right place.

I just got it tonight. It took many many tries and one of the most important thing was just getting good enough at weaving through the asteroids and learning the patterns. So practice is key, then you need some luck.

I did it by following the first ship until the other came down near it (you have to get lucky). Then I dodged until 3 more ships came down because I actually didn't totally destroy one of them right with one bomb. So I was out there dodging a long time. There were even red triangles coming at me.

One thing I can say is after you have 13 or 14, use the blue stuff to protect your ship. Get in close to it and have it protect you from asteriods and the red exploding things. Usually if you stay still the ship will come down near your position, you just have to make sure you don't miss it and flee before it gets down to you.

This is definitly one of the hardest if not the hardest challenge. I think it is the most frustrating because you have no defense but to dodge most of the time. It's like boxing with both hands tied behind your back. And even when you get good enough, you still need to get a little luck.

This is pretty much what I did also to get this trophy too... thats just what I would've said to.

Thats what is really really pissing me off....its all LUCK! It so stupid I have been trying to do this the last couple nights and I can get 14 bombs easy now and then the bomb ship is dropped far enough where I cant reach it then all hell breaks loose and im dead.....:cry:

FINALLY!!!!!!!!! All the pieces came together.

-Followed the first ship, weaved, and the second ship landed near it. BOOM!! Got 13 bombs now.

-Move slowly, dodging everything until the third ship comes. When the third ship is about to come, first green rocks will drop along with orange and red mines. Most of the mines will blow, and if your lucky the 3rd ship will drop near you. BOOM!!! 14 bombs.
(if your lucky all the explosions from the mines will also destroy the ship without you using any, giving you 15 bombs)

-Now its all about dodging and surviving long enough. (Say a prayer, even if you don't believe :) ). Seems like forever, but eventually, and HOPEFULLY the 4rth ship will drop close enough that you can blow it up and get your 15th bomb.

-Tip
-DO NOT get trapped inside the blue barriers. Its basically a death trap.
-Also you can use these blue barriers to your advantage.
---When outside one, get close to it so some of the rocks that fall get trapped in the blue barrier.

LOL, I was at a point that it was not worth the stress and basically gave up. Then I went to my cousins house, he was trying, trying, than all the pieces came together and I saw him get his trophy.

If you can get 14 than just hope that you survive long enough for the last ship to drop near you, otherwise you are screwed. I've been trying since Thursday, almost a weak, and finally got it.

To me this is the worst trophy in the game. Every threat lands around you, trying to trap you in while the bomb ships lands anywhere. This is what pissed me off the most. Than its hilarious to see shields appear when you blow up.

- :gta:I bet the A-Hole who thought of this trophy can't even get this trophy, and than made it even worse by making it a silver trophy. I want to see the ******* suffer like we are/did.:evil:

You have to patience and no use any bomb. It takes to me at least three tries before I obtain the trophy.

OMG after FOREVER I finally beat the damn challenge. I won't lie: It sucked. A lot. My tip to anyone who is about to undertake these shenanigans is simply this: Caffeine, loud music, and a heart full of desperation. That seemed to be my winning combo.

i had every trophy except the late bomber one... i spent hours on it... hours...
like many of you have... i got sick of it after... probley 5 hours straight (with a few breaks) but im the kindof person that will keep going... the next morning, before school i woke up early and tried it, for another hour... and failed...

then i went to school... and i was sitting next to this girl i know, pretty well... (she is very hott :D)
and i was telling her about it... lol... and she was like... can i come over and watch u try it... i was like... ok i guess...

so we went home...
she sits next to me... all attractive and stuff...
and i did it my first try... i was so pumped I... well, what happend after that... is another story, not for this forum ;)

but the leason is... get a hot girl, that you want to impress :D

Hot girls are impressed by trophy obsession? Man I wish I was in high school now because the world has changed! ;)

Others have said it and I agree this trophy should have been gold. In retrospect every other gold trophy I got wasn't even half as difficult as this silver. The only other trophy I have encountered that might be harder is Harders D&B in Pain (and what a surprise that is silver too).

I think they must have been restricted by points allocation on this stuff though. A few of those should have been Gold trophies. Very difficult.

That said, they probably could have swapped the co-op one around, that was really only Silver/Bronze worthy.

I'm the proud owner of the late boomer trophy :D took me a very long time.....a lot of it counts on luck rather than skill. And you will need a hell of a lot of luck to get it, it's one of the hardest trophies to get. What I did was set myself a limit to how long I would play it for each day. I actually set myself to play through 3 songs I used from my PS3 hardrive (don't laugh). I found I wouldn't get as frustrated with it that way. As for in-game tactics:

Avoid getting caught within the blue circles of rocks. You will have a very limited space to move around.

When those red things come down (not sure of the technical term) try to get close to other rocks, so that the red rocks coming down and the ones they hit are destroyed.

Follow the first bomb carrier round, and blow it up when in reach of the second bomb carrier to use up one bomb and gain 4.

Stay close to the green rocks and the item rocks. If a shield comes through, collect it-it's an extra life which can come in real good use.

Weave in and out often, and if you really feel that the only way out of the situation without dying is using a bomb-just take the risk and do not use it.
