Burnout Paradise To Introduce Planes (http://kotaku.com/5022191/burnout-paradise-to-introduce-planes)

http://kotaku.com/assets/images/kotaku/2008/07/topgun.jpgOnce was a time Burnout was all about the cars. Then they went and brought bikes into the mix, and everything changed. Criterion got a little...crazy. Started thinking less about the vehicles and more about the pure speed. That doesn't make it any less surprising to hear Criterion is thinking about moving beyond terrestrial vehicles altogether, though, and has announced that, after it's done with the Cagney update (http://kotaku.com/380333/cagney-brings-new-burnout-paradise-multiplayer-modes), it'll begin working on introducing planes into Burnout Paradise (http://kotaku.com/tag/burnout-paradise/). Yeah, planes. No idea how that will work, but the prospect of crashing a plane into a car at high speed, then going into crash mode, is no doubt an appealing one to the game's core userbase.

Hehe, this has to be a joke.

Wow :)
Ok we got the cars, we heard about the motor-cycles. Now planes. Whats next? Helicopters and space crafts?

On the actual Criterion games page it mentions nothing of them, I call BS until proved otherwise.

I would buy this game in a second if they put planes in it.

I wonder how they will manage to put planes into a Burnout game?

Criterion already have a working, fully-functional 'Bi-plane' in their dev work. Apparently a few of the people who have visited Criterion HQ have seen them in action - however, they are currently in prototype stages and most likely will never be released. They are certainly not part of any of the 'official' updates.

From Criterion: "We're having a play with planes, maybe they will make it, maybe they won't"

Kokatu have jumped the gun on this one.

There's also a thread about this over at Criterion.

I fail to see how this would work, but I can't deny it's awesomeness, full speed plane crashing, incredible

Truth. There was also footage on one of their podcasts. It's not guaranteed, but they are toying with it. Dunno how much fun it would be, and IMO, it takes the focus of the original premise of the game...

I can't imagine it ever getting into a released update. As you say Ninja, it just wouldn't be suited to the game.

I don't believe this either. It would be kinda cool but I just don't see it happening. I'm not even sure how it would work considering a plane wouldn't exactly fit in the tunnels and under many of the bridges in the game for you to have a crash.

I had a e-mail from EA:

Exciting new additions include motorcycles (a first in Burnout!), a brand-new island off the coast of Paradise City, and maybe - just maybe- we'll even let you take to the skies.

So i assume this is real, would be cool if there is planes.
