View Full Version : Trophy Information

A lot of people have been trying to figure out why certain games have different number of different trophies. Hopefully this topic will help people out.
*****POINT VALUES*****
Well trophies are assigned a point value (basically the "exp" you get from that trophy).
Bronze = 1
Silver = 2
Gold = 6
Platinum = 12
*****POINT LIMITS*****
Games have a different point limit depending on the type of game it is.
BluRay Games: 82 points
PSN Games (big): 70 points
PSN Games (small): 21 points
Add-ons: 6
This is why the "Brother in Arms" trophy is a Gold one. It uses the 6 points alloted in the Co-op add-on in one trophy.
Small PSN games are the ones for about $5-10, like SSHD or PixelJunk Eden. Big ones are games like WipEout HD that cost around $20.
*****LEVEL EXP*****
1-->2: 14
2-->3: 26 [40]
3-->4: 40 [80]
4-->5: 80 [160] (not 100% sure)
5-->6: 105 [265] (not 100% sure)
6-->7: 135 [400] (pretty sure)
This should help people figure out what they need to level up...
*****YOU CAN HELP TOO!!!*****
Also, if anyone calculates the points needed to reach level 7 or above, or if they get different numbers than what I have here, please post what you've found out so I can make adjustments.

I think there is platinum.. i think you get it if you full complete all of it...
A source for this, it the playfire.com tag thing. It asks what youve unlocked , and platinum is there. Just speculation...

Sony stated many times in the video and websites that the PSN Arcade titles DO NOT have platinum trophies only the retail games do.

Another bit of info (not sure if this is know yet):
Super Stardust HD (no add-ons): 7 Bronze, 4 Silver, 1 Gold
SSHD Solo Add-on: 2 Bronze, 2 Silver
SSHD Team Add-on: 1 Gold
now the trophy "point" ratio is 6:3:1 (for bronze, silver, and gold receptively). If we assign 6 points for gold, 2 for silver, and 1 for bronze, and apply them to each game/add-on we get:
Super Stardust HD (no add-ons): (1x7)+(2x4)+(6x1)=21
SSHD Solo Add-on: (1x2)+(2x2)=6
SSHD Team Add-on: 6
and now we do that to Pixeljunk Eden:
19 bronze and 1 silver= (19x1)+(2x1)=21
so we can safely assume that each PSN game will have 21 trophy "points" and each DLC can add up to 6 "points"

Nice find =D
Actually, from a post a while ago i got:
SSHD: (7x2) + (4x4) + (1x12) = 42
PJE: (19x2) + (1x4) = 42
SSHD SE: (2x2) + (2x4) = 12
SSHD TE: (1x12) = 12
So the ratio for B:S:G is 2:4:12 [42]
But looking at it now its just double yours (i forgot to simplify).
So our ratios are the same - it could be ANYTHING within the ratio ;)

When Uncharted trophies release, the Platinum will change it though, since several gold will = 1 Platinum
looking at the pattern (1x2=2, 2x3=6) I would think that perhaps Platinum will be 6x4=24, but that's more than an entire PSN game....

Its a logical pattern but in several interviews its been made clear that Bronze->Silver->Gold and then Platinum "DRAMATICALLY Increases Exp". I'll try find some sources but its possible? But then again maybe theres too much thought into this, maybe there is no pattern and they were randomly ellected numbers?

I just got to level 3, I have all on SSHD and 7 bronze on Eden. 25 trophies total, using your ratio it's 40 points. The last trophy only just took me over, th bar is empty, so it looks like exactly 40 exp for level 3.

That is what Sony does NOT want to happen. I remember reading on the PS Blog that they didn't want to say how the "points" system worked cause it would ruin the system for some people. I don't really get how that ruins anything...but they think it does....

Yea, i know they are sooo keen on keeping it secret but its already superior to achievements because of the "set" limits to trophies instead of the devloper making their own score to each achievement.
If developers stick to this (which when made mandatory, they will have too), theres no harm in revealing the values. I think Sony just wanna be myserious on this one.

Well, with Gamerscores there's also a limit, 1000 (1100 for some games I believe), but you're right about each individual achievement now being more structured. This way an Extremely difficult trophy wont take up half of the game's "points" but can be worth up to 6 points (a gold trophy), the same as a moderately difficult one.
The only problem I have is that, like with Pixeljunk Eden, We may get some PSN games with many trophies, but all bronze. I think that we may start to see a steady rise in DLC development for PSN titles (which can add 6 more points to the game's limit). What if Eden was going to get a DLC similar to Pixeljunk Monster Encore? The Devs will most likely add a Gold trophy for something (All seeds in every garden? Getting through Garden 7 without throwing your controller into a wall >__>).
The possibilities.....

Hey... a quick update for you! I've got three bronze trophies in Uncharted which gives me 3%. It looks like the points limit for retail games is 100. Which is similar to the 360 system, there the retail games are 5x the value of an Arcade game.
Shadownet46
August 5th, 2008, 02:21 AM
Well I have 16 points and and it says 19%
It seems to be closer to 85 points per retail game.

36 Bronze Trophies, 9 Silver Trophies, 2 Gold Trophies and 1 Platinum Trophy in Uncharted: Drakes Fortune.
36 + 18 + 12 = 66
Thats if your system is right... presuming say, 1 bronze trophie is lower than 1% and is rounded up...
We could still be wroth something in the region of 24?
Shadownet46
August 5th, 2008, 09:33 PM
I think you counted wrong. It's:
3 Gold = 18
8 Silver = 16
36 Bronze =36
Total = 70
I get a point total of about 82 (56 points divided by 68%). This would mean Platinum is about 12 (half of what I had thought)
Once i get the next two trophies, a Gold and Silver (I'm not counting on getting the Crushing trophy any time soon) I'll be able to pinpoint the totals and other stuff.

Well...not really....
When your trophies get synchronized they get uploaded to a server that stores your trophy information.
Your trophy information get's synchronized when you press the "Trophy Collection" in the XMB, it also synchronizes when you compare your trophies with a friends.

First off, there are 56 trophies included in the Warhawk v1.5 Patch. These are broken down into a couple of categories:
There are 10 trophies based on the Warhawk's current stats/rank/awards system. Like getting all your Bronze badges, attaining a specific rank, or earning a number of medals.
There are 34 trophies that are entirely *new* rewards based on Warhawks core game and not based on our current stats, ranks or other awards.
There are then 4 trophies per booster pack that are, of course, completely new awards.
Developing 56 new trophies was a really fun part of the v1.5 production cycle...but 10 of them are based on stats and awards that you, our community may have already earned -- so that's why we made sure that those 10 trophies based on our core stats system would be paid out retroactively. Meaning, that once the v1.5 patch is released, and if you've already earned the requirements for those trophies *bling*bling*bling* Warhawk will pay them out to you!
10+34 = 44
56 - 44 = 12
12 / 4 = 3
