Shutting Down Problme

Immediatley after 2.4 was released my ps3 was fine and i played with it and turned it on and off without any problems. Well today i turn on the ps3 for a few seconds and turn it off by holding the button near teh disc drive. But it doesnt turn off, it just sits there with the green light blinking and no video on my TV. so i go in the back and hit the switch. then i go back and test it again, and the same thing happpens again, and i have to go turn it off from the back switch. Any one else have this problem and anyone have a solution???

have you tried the power off button on the xmb under "create new user"? does it make 1 beep and thats it b/c when it shuts down it should be making 2 beeps. sometimes when it doesnt turn off and doesnt make 2 beeps the ps3 is busy doing something else...hope this helps!
