View Full Version : Black screen problem...

Whenever I use the PS3 with my HDMI cable all I see is a black screen. It was working fine just hours ago. I've tried turning off and on the power switch, hard reset, going back to SD then trying HDMI again, and nothing's working at all. Now (I think from the hard reset) it says on the HDMI input that it's displaying in 576p (but, again, the screen stays black). It works in SD though. I've googled it but can't find anything that does the trick.
+rep to anyone that can help me with this...

Hmmm, So you have the PS3 hooked to the tv via the av cables (coloured one) and the hd cable then do the switch over to hd via the ps3 menu, then you change the tv source to HD.....
is that the problem? You would have to change the tv's input to HDMI, normally just hit the AV button on the remote or something

I have both AV and HDMI connected; when I go on the AV input, it detects the HDMI and asks if I want to switch to it. I accept, and change to the HDMI input, but the screen stays black (and, what I think could have been from the hard reset, says it's 576p in the corner even though it's on the HDMI input).

Theres a way to change it manually i think, you could force the ps3 to 1080 and see if that works, What TV are you using?

Sony Bravia 26". Its max resolution is 1080i I think.
How could I manually chance the resolution? All it asks is if I want to change to HDMI, if it asks after that I can't see it 'cause of the black screen :\
Thanks for trying to help though, +rep
Edit: OK, I don't know what I did, or even if I did anything, but it's working again . It's pretty ridiculous because this has happened before, and seemed to have fixed itself then but I assumed it must've just been a loose connection or something. + It's weird as it was working just an hour or two before this happened. I guess next time this happens I'll just... leave it?
I'm seriously confused, but happy about it nonetheless :P
