So, I originally bought a P series Sony (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5292277/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CSound%2Band%2Bvision%7C9555142/c_2/2%7Ccat_9555142%7CTelevisions%7C9555309.htm) but ended up not liking it. So I've phoned argos & they said I could exchange it for another TV, so I looked on the site & found a Samsung (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/0870443/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CSound+and+vision%7C9555142/Trail/searchtext%3ESAMSUNG.htm) around the same price. I know a few people with the same TV (though I havn't seen it), & they had said it was good, so I thought I'd go for it because I didn't really know what else to go for.
Anyway, I've now (yes, I do things in the most stupid of orders) gone to read reviews on the internet (albeit, they are sites I've never heard of), & I see a lot of negatives...???
Anybody got this TV? & how is it...

Well here is a review of the U.S. version of that tv from a credible site:
http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/samsung-ln32a450/4505-6482_7-32815310.html
That samsung is the best 720p lcd currently available.

Ok thanks, & I doubt I'll be spending that much on a TV considering I'm still in college with no job lol.

I don't have that model but I do have a Samsung LN32A550 (I'm using it right now on my PS3 web browser). I bought it from newegg.com for $899 USD and it's worth every penny.
Just like Riskz said above, cnet is a great resource for reviews.

On the set I have, you can't change any of the display options if you choose the game mode. It's supposed to reduce video lag (the amount of time it takes from the button press to the change on the screen) by bypassing all of the video enhancers, but I would only use it if you notice any video lag at all. The trade off for the extra couple of milliseconds can be worth it in action heavy games. I haven't really had my tv long enough to even notice a difference, so I'm not sure how much it does/does not help either way.
Thanks for the +rep.

This is nice to know. Im in the market for a new TV and I been looking at the Samsungs. I've been looking also at the Emerson 32" LCD. Looks very good and has high reviews but dont know what to get as of yet. Dont know much about TV's in technical terms. Doing some research as we speak!

if you're going LCD...then my personal suggestion is Samsung...although Sony is damn good too....if you want Plasma...Pioneer is really really good but pricey...

The gaming mode doesn't change much. If you are set on getting a Samsung I would try to find one without the "Auto Motion Plus" feature that Samsung is pushing right now. I have the LN40A650, much like the one Metfanant was showing with a few less features. The Motion Plus feature is my only real thing against it as it is an excellent TV. Playing CoD4 especially when spinninng around as fast as I can to find enemies the processor has a hard time keeping up and the image gets blurry/wavy. Some super fast action movies you will notice it a good bit too.

I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier but I changed my set to game mode and it turned off the Motion Plus feature so no blurry picture when things get going fast. Thanks for that comment Phantasmn or I might have never figured this out. Even though you weren't trying to help me +rep =D

As long as it helps someone out, my work here is done.
Now I just need to get a calibration DVD so I can have my colors setup correctly.

I have the 46" 6 series (as mentioned in my sig). It's flawless IMO. 4 ms response which is better than Sony, 120 Motion Plus for TV enhancement, and cheaper than the Sony :D
For the different modes I have gaming, cinema, sports, "off" (standard). Gaming brightens the screen, Cinema makes it a bit darker. I haven't tried sports as my TV isn't hooked up to cable and there hasn't been games on the local channels.
But games and movies haven't had a single hitch for me. I've played The Orange Box, and MGS4 mostly so far. But action games with lots going on and no hitches. And MGS4 is in full 1080, so if I don't have problems now I don't see anything happening in the foreseeable future.
My recommendation is a Sony or Samsung. And with the scenario you are considering, a Samsung, I only got one thing to say... Go for it! ;)

I actually bought that 32 inch Samsung 720p HDTV just a week ago and i absolutely love it. While i was in the store looking at TV's in looked the best out of all of them. Crisp and clear. Beautiful exterior finish. I set my picture to Dynamic which made it look even better. Frankly i thought pretty much every other TV there didn't look nearly as good as the Samsung, both picture and exterior. This Samsung is basically another Ps3 with the glossy piano black finish so it matches nicely to your Ps3 assuming you have the black Ps3. I highly recommend buying it

Has your Motion Plus been acting up where the faster moving images get blurred/wavy?

how high is your AMP set?

No point in all this AMP talk in here. It doesn't come on the 450 series.
I use a 32inch A450 for my PS3. Perfect so far. The gaming mode reduces input lag. No blurring. The only downside is that you can't adjust any picture options in game mode and you can't adjust the audio equalizer in game mode. That is one of the only flaws I've found so far during about a month of use.
Just so you know. I have a Pioneer Kuro upstairs as my main TV. So I'm using the best reference picture in the market when comparing my Samsung. The latest Samsung's have the deepest blacks I've ever seen on an LCD so far.
It's the highest rated 32inch on cNet right now for a reason.
