i live in country and its tough to get High-Speed internet where i live, there is high speed close to the town i live by, but its mainly availible in city limits.

but i did come across a guy in RadioShack and he told me my best option would be something called an Air Card, ( also known as mobile broadband cards, or connect cards.) it works like Cell Phone but you can use it anywhere without needing a hotspot, and told me Verizon is the best.

thing is, from what i read i think it may be mainly for laptops, or cell phones, tho i think it could be used on my desktop computer. but im wondering if it can be used on PS3? i really would hope so, cus its like one of my few options, cus later today im going to a friend's house to get 2.40 update heh.

anyone know??

First off it is very debatable which provider has the best card. Second, no they do not work on Desk Tops and no it will not work on a PS3. unless you know how to modify your PS3 and take it all apart and some how find a way to insert that card. Also that card is going to be very pricey! I suggest moving into the nearest town....save yourself alotta $$$$$

your best bet IMO would be to get a the mogul, from sprint
its a windows mobile device that features revision A (Fastest speed available on aircards/phones) and wifi. you can then use a program called WMwifirouter to turn the phone into a wireless router, which you can use via the wifi on the PS3. i avg speeds of 2mbps and i can play online without any lag what so ever.
price? $200 for the phone after $100 rebate and $30/mo for service. - look up SERO on slickdeals.net its a 500 min plan w/unlimited data

Why wouldn't it work on a desktop?? Almost all "GSM wireless modems" nowdays are a "dongle" attachment using a USB connection. The driver software is usually stored on the device itself, so any PC with a USB port should be able to use it.

Despite the USB connectivity - I would doubt it would work directly with the PS3 as I would be surprised if the device drivers could be installed on the PS3.

One option for the OP would be to use one such device on your home PC and then use "internet connection sharing" on your windows PC to allow the PS3 to connect to the internet thru the PC. For this you would require a way to "network" the PS3 with your PC - either by setting up a "Peer to Peer" wireless network from a wireless enabled PC, or using a cat5 cable connection between the PS3 and PC.

No comment on how you would find the speed of such a connection.

yea i was told by the store dude that it would work on a desktop, anyway, it is a good point that the driver couldnt be install on the PS3

and finally its a great idea to network the PS3 with a PC but im not sure how to doit, and i dont know a connection i could share it with in the first place,

it really sucks to have near 0 options for real internet where i live. its isnt fair

If your PC isn't currently on a network but has a spare network port, you could link you PC and PS3 directly using a cross-over cat5 cable. If you do a google search for "internet connection sharing" - you should find hundreds of websites which will explain how to set it up depending on your operating system etc. While you're at it with google - try searching "internet connection sharing" + PS3, you will more than likely find reference specific to what you are trying to do.

Sorry I can't give any more detailed info - as I've never had to use the function.
