Those not digging the whole re-playing aspect of the trophy system can breath easier for Burnout's trophies.
Burnout's Trophies ARE Retroactive
Wondering why the Burnout Paradise save-game was tied to your PSN ID? Well, wonder no more - Criterion have gone on record to say that not only will Trophies be integrated in a future update of Paradise, but they will be awarded based on your progress in your existing save game - so, when the update arrives the trophies you have earned will reflect the progress you've made in the game at that time. In essence: you won't have to replay the game again to earn trophies.[via sixthaxis (http://www.thesixthaxis.com/burnouts_trophies_are_retroactive_news_1249_tsa.as px)]

Any game can do it, as long as the game was coded to lock the game saves to a user profile... Only Burnour Paradise to date is known to implement this...
Don't hold your breath....

There's no way I would've started over. The Elite license required a bazillion wins... I would've simply stayed trophy-less.

Its great news, especially for those of us who have put (in some cases) 50+ hours into finishing the offline component and unlocking everything. Typically excellent foresight and great work from Criterion 8)

I haven't played the game in a while but it's a great game and the fact that we won't have to start over is even better. I wish more games would make it so that the save file was linked to the PSN account to avoid replaying games to get trophies. Some games are ok to replay while others might not be. There's also the times when you achieved something that took you forever to do and you might dread trying to do it again.
