I was planning on picking up an anime box set to give to my girlfriend, since she watches some anime with me, but I was kind of at a loss as far as series go.

She's seen:
FMP!
FMP?
FMP!TSR
Inukami
Chobits
Fruits Basket
Ah! My Goddess (right now we're watching the second season)
She saw a bit of FMA (like 6 or so episodes), but didn't like it. She also didn't like Gundam 00, especially once we got to the last few episodes where they killed everyone off

Hopefully you guys can get a general idea of what she likes with that. I was thinking of Eureka Seven, but there's no (domestic) box set for it, and I don't want to get something that she can't see the end to. I was hoping for domestic (support the anime, right?), but I importing isn't a big issue. I know a few good import sites.

Thanks for the help.

Elfen Lied

Seriously though.

Mushishi - Brilliant
Kino's Journey - Similar to Mushishi
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Wolf's Rain
Air

Elfen Lied was great. It's just a bit too bloody for her lol. I also just finished up watching Haruhi (myself), but I think I'll wait for a non-import box set for that.

I'll go raid one of those anime summary sites and see about those other ones you listed.

EDIT: I'm leaning towards Air atm. I've heard of it but never seen it, and it sounds really good. Mushishi sounds pretty deep, but I'm thinking she won't like it. I'm still open to suggestions though.

Ah, now that's stuff I've heard of before. I might have to find an episode or two of Mai-Hime or Love Hina to preview. That sounds more of what she'd like (the funny/romantic stuff).

I noticed you have a Azumanga Daioh sig; have you seen it in English? Are the voices horrible like so many other anime? I personally watch subtitled anime since I enjoy the voices more.

Anyhow, my short little list of stuff to look at is growing:
Air
Love Hina
Mai-Hime/Otome
Tenchi Muyo (Love Hina reminded me of it before I even got to the bottom of your post lol)

Bandersnatch

Midori no Hibi is a great 13 episode series, I'd show her that. Don't know how I stumbled onto it, but am pretty glad I did. Definitely a series you can both enjoy.

I thought Midori no Hibi was pretty good too. Again, one of those things you just kinda stumble on and afterwards are like "I'm glad I watched that." Totally forgot about it until you mentioned it. Thanks

Sadly enough I haven't seen any of Miyazaki's works (I've watched a ton of anime and never watched any of his), so that's definitely an idea.

Unfortunate statistics:

To LOVEru - currently airing slice of life romance comedy...was a little gdgd for a few episodes but seems to be on track again
Bamboo Blade - slice of life comedy about a high school kendo club
Minami-ke (not Okawari) - slice of life comedy about 3 sisters living together...really quite good
KANON 2006 (was a little lighter than AIR) - slice of life + fanatsy + drama
CLANNAD (lightest of the 3 Key based productions) - slice of life, harem, minor fantasy, comedy, minor drama

Kaleido Star - this one is REALLY well done and would be my main recommendation. About a girl who travels from Japan to audition for the Kaleido Stage (think Cirque du Soleil) and her trials and tribulations as she joins the troupe. It's a very heart warming series.

I thought I was the only one that like Midori Days. This is a good show though it was too short and rushed in my opinion. I wish it had lasted longer. Also, depending on which version you get there may be nudity. I always watch the Japanese soundtrack with English subs because I hate dubs and the one I have is not censored and has nudity in many of the episodes. It's nothing serious though so I don't think your girlfriend would mind too much.

Yeah lol...no hentai.

I watched R2 releases of Midori no Hibi and I can't remember anything crazy, so obviously it's not too bad. I doubt the US release is uncensored though; I mean, it's the US. Guns = good, human anatomy = bad.

There's just some nudity, breasts only from my memory but it is in about 5 or 6 of the episodes at least. The first time I saw it was on TV and they cut those parts out. When I "got" them later on they were uncensored.
