i've downloaded PS3 Video 9 from redkawa.com

sadly, my laptop isn't helpful

are there any programmes that can allow me to convert avi/other video formats into Mp4?

Do you REALLY need to convert the video? If you're just planning on streaming content from a PC you can use TVersity which will do the job. Or I think PSP Video is another popular program.
