If any of this Info is wrong feel free to correct me and i will glady update.
Note from the OP - I will be calling Captain America "Cap" so i dont have to say his whole name all the time.
Movie name - The First Avenger: Captain America
Director - Nick Cassavetes
Movies Nick Cassavetes has Directed - Alpha Dog, The Notebook, John Q, Shes So Lovely, Unhook the Stars.

-Marvel is close on this one just like Iron Man and The Incredable Hulk.
-This movie is a prequel to The Avengers movie where Captain America will be the leader of the team.
-This movie wont have much CG (from what can see) since it will take place in World War 2 and the person cast as Cap will be in a suit of clothing maybe something like Batman.
-This movie will most likely go for the PG-13 rating so dont expect a bloody war epic.
-Cap wont get his famous shield until it is given to him by S.H.I.E.L.D. in the Avengers movie.

How this movie can go Wrong

Directing - I wont say this guy is a good or bad director because the only movie i have seen from him is John Q and that was an ok movie.

Casting - Captain America is a natural leader with strong stage presence and finding someone who has these attributes and can star in a leading role in his own movie will be hard.

Politics - Lets be honest if Cap is all preachy and political this movie will bomb. The Captain America movie just needs to be a fun action adventure( I use the word adventure lightly) like Iron Man was. Cap just needs to have a strong sense of justice and nothing says that better than fighting some nazis. Something like Superman in the old Superman movies. In Superman 2 Zodd and his crew (bad guys) destroy a little bit of the whitehouse but when Superman comes back he replants the american flag on top. Thats all that is needed.

Costume - Ok i like Cap but he has a pretty silly looking costume with bright colors.
My idea for his costume is take off the big "A" on his forhead and make the colors darker. One of the reasons i hated Ang Lees Hulk was the Hulks green coloring was too bright and cartoony looking and i believe they choose the perfect coloring in the new Hulk movie and i was much more satisfied and i will think it will help Cap out with his costume.
The suit would have to be thick like Batman wears in the Batman movies. This way Cap can look muscular and not look like hes wearing silly tights.

I would like something similar to this but make the white a little more gritty looking and darken the red a few hints. also no A on his forhead.

I tried to keep story out of this as much as possible to keep spoilers down.
Ok well give me your opinions and/or corrections

Hmmm, I wonder who would make a good Captain America and will they include The Red Skull. But I do agree with you that the costume colors need to be darker like with what they did with Superman Returns...

NO NO dont mention Superman Returns.
That red on superman was not red that was maroon.
maroon = brown + red = disgusting.

Just darken hints not mix in nasty colors like brown.

I didn't mean to use those color just the idea that of what they did in Superman Returns. I'm looking at my 3" Captain America figurine on my desk now and he is actually painted pretty cool, the red is more of a dark red burgundy type of color with a darker blue...

I know this movie isnt coming out for awhile but does no one care about Cap?

Maybe i should have made an entire Avengers thread and just added the Cap part to it.

If you read my op you would of read that Cap wont get his famous shield until it is given to him by S.H.I.E.L.D or maybe Iron Man since in his movie Tony was working on the shield. So Cap if he has a shield at all will most likely be some other not so great shield.

The A on his forhead is like the S on supermans chest you dont take it off because it was in the comics.

If this movie is going to be good then they follow the comics. They did it in the Hulk and Ironman and they kicked ***. What you do is take the comics and re tell the stories in a modern day way, make the problems more modern, the cities more accurate, and the problems less scifi and more believable. Ironman is perfect example of this. Instead of a spirtied underground city being revived it was the missles that can destroy anything anywhere.

You dont do what spiderman did in spiderman 3. Take the stories from the comics jumble them up a ton then make your own stories out of the characters, that doesnt work and you cant be as creative. The people that love the comics love them for the stories. Just stick with what you can and cant do and dont try to make the most amazing movie in the world with too much going on etc... Just take the comic and retell that story in a modern way.

As for the story just make the first part of it not really a CAP movie make it like a WW2 movie and as this is going on they are finding CAP, the super soldier, and they are running the tests or whatever. Finally they bring him out and he kicks *** and defeats what ever villian it is. The thing is this is suposed the origins of CAP and lead into the Avengers movie, its not really a full fledged CAP movie. If it was then he would be given his Shield, which without it he inda sucks lol. The Avengers begining should really be about CAP and his shield and then they pull in the final peices to the team, the guys that didnt get movies because they would suck lol.

Either way Marvel is doing a really good job with two things. 1 They are making these movies so thats why they are good. Their studios are making the directors and writers stay based on their comics as they watch over it, that way we dont end up with a spiderman 3 again. 2 They are doing an amazing job at tieing the team together so far with the hulk and Ironman. Im sure with Marvel watching over this movie its going to be good too, with it just suposed to be a origins type movie i dont expect something like Ironman really.

I personally disagree comparing the A and the S but i did ask for opinions and i thank you for yours.
I guess the A would be ok but i really hope the costume is thick like batmans from the batman movies and not cloth like spiderman.

To do the costume "correctly" you would have to base if off the Civil War version if you ask me like you said. ITs the darkest version ive seen really and it looks really badass. However it still would need some touch ups and you will still need to find a way to make the actor "tougher" looking if you ask me.

Still with the A its a symbol to me and if your getting rid of it just get rid of his whole mask. I just htink the needs the A. If done correctly it will look really good.

i can't complain Marvel is ruling the industry right now and seeing another marvel movie wouldn't be bad at all no matter who it is

All those are false. At least from what i have heard and for the sake of god i hope its false lol. However either Marvle has yet to sign on a CAP or they are choosing a nobody and holding it under wraps.

Geez just imagining trying to sign on dicaprio while still having enough money for Downey jr and Norton is frightning lol. He is a AMAZING actor dont get me wrong just not for this.

Marvel said they wanted Leo.
Leo has said nothing for as far as i know and have you seen Leo's profile at IMDB lately? Hes got too many movies to do already. After seeing The Departed i am conviced Leo can be a tough guy but i am not convinced he could play Cap at all. Can you imagine Leo ordering Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man) and Edward Norton (Hulk) around? I cant

ROFL Matthew Mcconaughey!!! ROFLL that **** would be a comedy, and he'd have his shirt off the whole time, he does have the body part for it though.
