Ps3 Chat HELP!!

Ok I've been having a problem with the chat feature of the Ps3...when I get into a chat room I lag a bit no big issue to me but wouldn't mind if there is a way to fix it besides upgrading my internet. But while in a chat it will say that the person hosting the chat has logged off and then I get error signed out of PSN I can sign in again no asweat but it gets annoying when I'm listeing to something or saying something and then

Sometimes turning off the media server function (under network settings) can help. No guarantee but worth a shot. Also turning off the information board "may" help as well. (really don't even know why people would keep that up anyways. It's such a waste IMHO)
