2.2 Is plenty.
You'll need an ethernet cable to run from your PC to PS3, if you don't wanna buy a router.
I love having a router, that way you don't need the PC on to use online on the PS3.

^^^What he said, ethernet cable to PC, set up internet connection sharing, have PC switched on whenever you want to go online. Or buy a router. Your connection speed is fine for playing online.

Ditto on above. 2.2 is plenty fast. ANd use an ethernet cable. Easiest is if you have a router.

Before you run off and buy a router, please check if your ADSL modem does have an ethernet connection.
There are plenty of Alcatel modems out there that are USB-only.
There are only a handful of routers available that support an USB-modem and they're rather expensive.
If you do have a modem that only supports USB-connections, perhaps it's best to call your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and check with them if they have other modems with ethernet-connections. You could also buy a new modem at a local shop, but check with your ISP first. Some ISP's require specific modems and settings.
If you do have an ethernet-connection on your modem, you can buy a router. Decent brands I'd suggest:
* Draytek
* Netgear
* Linksys
* U.S. Robotics

Some routers also have modems built in. So you dont need to use the ISP modem. I use a Netgear wireless router/ DSL modem combo and it works great. I got it on ebay for 22 dollars.

True, that's something I touched on as well.
But when people go to a store and ask for a router, the chance of going home with a modem with a built-in router is close to none.

That might be the best option. But you might want to double check with your ISP.
As for prices, I have no idea. I guess it depends on brand and possibilities and where you live.
Here in Holland most would be somewhere around 70 - 80 € (less for cheaper brands).

Your best bet will be a router with a built in modem, you won't have any problems using one with orange. How much have you got to spend cause there usually between £40-£60???
Edit: This one here (http://www.dsl-warehouse.co.uk/product.asp?pr=WAG200G) is £42.29, linksys make some pretty decent routers, this one should be good for you.

I use Orange in Holland and for broadband connections they supply their own Livebox systems.
Checking on their website I found they use the same modems in the UK as they do here.
I'd say, give them a call. My girlfriend replaced her Alcatel modem for a new Livebox at her apartment.

Didn't know orange had started doing that, excellent idea :DD +rep
