Please Help Can't access shared files on compter.

This question may have been answered already :dunce but. I have Verizion Fios and am using their wireless router for internet connection to my PS3 and can't get any files from my computer I.E. Pictures Music files Videos etc. Are there settings on the PS3 or my computer that I need to add or change so that I can use this wonderful option?
