I take it you already have the router registered to your PC so you can add things to be allowed to use the internet? I don't know much about routers etc but you have to go into IE and type 192.168.1.1 or something to get the router menu up and then you can select to add the PS3 and should show you the IP address of the PS3 and router.

I'm not 100% on this but I hope it helps.

EDIT:

Here's a link to a manual. Hope this helps.

my router is not registered to my PC. i just plugged the router in, shoved the cord into the modem and tried to set it up to connect to the PS3, lol.

can you tell me a little bit more specifically how to do that? :)

You first need to setup your router to what ever High Speed Modem you are using. After that setting up the PS3 to the router is just like seting up a Laptop.

What brand name is your router? I have numbers for the following, just do a google search if it's not listed:

just give the router company a call and they can setup your router to the High Speed modem. Remember you will need you high speed connection username and password before calling the router company. You can get that from your ISP.

If your sister gave it to you as she no longer had a need for it.
I'm guessing its still got her settings on it, so unless she was stupid and ran it without any secuirty there will be some kind of WEP or WAP encryption and password set up on it.

Ask her what it is?
