WOW!! I've just heard their new single, and frankly, I'm amazed that Wikipedia still lists this as Nu-Metal (yuck). This is really NOT Nu-Metal, guys, you HAVE GOT TO LISTEN TO THIS!! Their most brutal yet! I've been a fan of theirs since long, although not a fan of Nu-Metal, but I don't know, they're different to me. Anwyay, I can't post the link here 'cause it's illegal, but google it!! HINT: rapidshare....

although im not a big fan of slipknot (the only song i like is wait and bleed) i can deff understand what u r saying there are a lot of bands that i like that are labeled nu-metal and i feel they are so much better and are in a whole diff artistic level to put in that category, like for example my fav band are the deftones and they are considered nu-metal but to me and many others they are in a separate level all on their own and should be kept that way.

btw u should post the song or give a link to...............oh ****!! y just noticed ur puertorican flag YO TAMBIAN SOY BORICUA!!!

Slipknot is amazing. Where can you listen to the song? You tube? I'll go check now and link if I find it.

EDIT: Well, I got a hold of the song, and while I can't link it, I can say this. It's an intense song. I personally don't like it much, but it's not horrible. Kind of an acquired taste of a song. Just doesn't seem to have much of a melody, feels more like hardcore grunting metal.

I'll have to check this out when I get home, I have yet to see Slipknot, I was able to catch Stone Sour and they were good. Too bad Slipknot didn't decide to play at the festival I was just at, love their song Before I Forget...

I agree it's different, and not very melodic, but they said the first single will be one of the heavier songs. I like it because it's really heavy, not downtuned heavy, but heavy in a real metal way, fast double bass drums, varied guitars, etc.

btw u should post the song or give a link to...............oh ****!! y just noticed ur puertorican flag YO TAMBIAN SOY BORICUA!!!Tipo de donde eres? Soy de Bayamón (la segunda capital del reggeaton, :()

At least they're progressing in an interesting way, they're moving towards less radio-friendly songs...and of course, that's always great in my book!! And this is coming from a guy that listens to Keep Of Kalessin, Mayhem, Aborted, bands like that, Black, Death metal and Grindcore.

Ok i downloaded it, and I agree with the majority here. I'm a Slipknot fan, and I love Iowa and The Subiminal Verses, but this new song doesn't have much in the melody department and the rhythms don't have much in the hook / riff department either. It's one thing to be 'hardcore' but as songwriters they should be working to preserve their integrity too. Ah well, to their credit, at least they're not getting softer with age, like most musos do, haha.

Anyway guys, I admit I wasn't a Slipknot fan, but little by little I opened my mind and well, here I am. This guys have really matured, and probably this is one of the non-melodic songs on the new album like the other albums, where you had melodic and brutal songs. So, this new song really shows what to expect, more brutality and more melody (I bet their next single will be melodic).

I hope they bring the pain when they hit the Rockstar Mayhem tour.

This is poor even by Slipknot standards. Compare Corey's vocals to those on Iowa or s/t and its plain to see that they have been toned down for radio. This is in no way 'brutal' or 'real metal'

Well the new album is here and I love it. I was afraid it wouldn't be as melodic as the Subliminal Verses but it really is a follow-on, so much that there is another reworking of Vermillion Pt 2 on there - they must be really trying to nail that song as their finest pop moment.

Lots of great melodies and crunching riffs. It reminds me a lot of Stone Sour, and the subject matter is like triumphing over war, the elite, surviving the apocalypse. Awesome album. Better than Disturbed's 'Indestructible'.
