PS3 Issues

Yesterday i was playing MLB The Show, I started a game and everything was white, u can see the players but the walls and everything obviously some color issue. I finished the game, then loaded the next same problem. I shut the system off and tried to turned it back on and got a black screen, no sound, menu, cant do anything. I checked cables and everything and all was fine. I left for work, talked to sony and setup a shipment to them to fix it since it has only been 7 months. Just to check i tried to turn on ps3 this morning, and it came on, I played the game for about 10 minutes, frozen again, turned it on black screen.If i wait a 2 hours or so it will work for a short time, and then freeze again, it's almost like if i let it sit and goto the bathroom, or make a sandwhich is automatically freezes, the less time i leave it turned off the less time i can play it.

Anyone know what this might be?

And is there anyway i can get the mlb show saved files onto a disc or something to have when i get the new PS3 if i do need to send it, (because if anyone plays the show you know how much time it takes with the guy, if i have to start over i'll probaly never play the ps3 till madden 09)

If you have ten minutes before it freezes, it should be plenty of time to do this, Boot the PS3 and insert a USB drive on one of the USB ports, under Game scroll to Save Data Utility, select the game you want to copy, and press triangle>copy, select the USB drive and press X, this should take you less than 4 minutes to perform.
Note: the PS3 will create the necessary folders.

This probably isn't it, but you should probably clean out the vents if possible.

Use canned air. I had freezing problems and I started using compressed air to clean out the vents about every week or so. No problems since.

sorry not the exact same thing but my ps3 is freezing at start up, just after 'Sony Computer Entertainment Europe' and just before the user log on screen should appear :neutral: it was workin fine yesterday, then today this is happening :S

does anybody know what it could be and any possible solution?

i've just done a quick search of the forum and this is the closest problem so i thought i'd post in here.

btw, it's a 60gig version and has been running fine on the v2.41 firmware for the past week or so

any help would be really appreciated! cheers.

I am having the same problems with random freezing. It is seriously annoying and I'm going crazy. I'll try the air can thing, but I am starting to think I'm going to have to send it in to be fixed or something.

Try moving it to any open space and keeping it cool. It may be due to overheating. I've heard of people with that same problem, and it was due to overheating.
