PS3 Refuses to stay on

When I switch it on the red power light comes on fine. Then when I press this the unit comes on for 3-4 seconds then shuts down. It's then back to red flashing light. I have re set the unit several times but no luck. Please can someone advise me what is happening & how to fix it?

Send it to Sony, It doesn't sound like a problem you can fix on your own.

Sony is pretty nice when it comes to Customer Service though, on of the best I've seen.

I think your best calling sony and getting a replacement sent out, i've heard this happen to a few people and i think they are quick to provide a replacement. Has this always been the case or has it only happen recently?

That's weird. With a problem that severe, I don't know what to suggest other than calling Sony and requesting a repair/replacement. Is the unit still under warranty?

It has worked fine for a year. Now 3 weeks after warranty it refuses to work.
Unfortunatley Sony Customer Support are refusing to help because the unit was a gift to my son - purchased by his grandfather in Hong Kong.

I'm really sorry to hear that, keeping pestering sony, theres a chance for a small few they could fix it, maybe his grandfather could call the sony support lines there and see what they have to say

You need to send it to sony if your still under warranty, you'll have a new one within days.

I've also got this problem with my Pal 60gb PS3

Goes Green then yellow and red and starts bleeping

Mines out of warranty, can anyone help
