Crash! Bang! Boom!

THIS is freaking me out. Sometimes when im on a game, my whole PS3 actually FREEZES UP....,COMPLETELY! My only option is to reset the console.
Its not overheating (it was quite cool once), its not overuse (it did it after only being on for 15mins once), its not any particular game, and it does it quite often now, more than it used to.
I thought crashing consoles went out with the ps1. Any help?

How long have you had it and is it still in warranty, if it is then get on the phone to sony and get yourself a replacement, There might not be anything wrong but as the old expression goes; its better to be safe than out of warranty with a broken ps3!
