I have searched the forums and seen a few threads similar to this one but not exact. I have been emailing sony back and forth on this issue but their customer services reps are idiots.

I am plugging my PS3 into my DVI monitor with a HDMI > Dvi cable and have no issues with that. I am having issues with my sound. I plug a Logitech clearchat comfort USB headset into the front usb slots. THen i go to accessories and Headset and select input and output as the USB Logitech and while on that screen I hear my mic and myself talking. I click OK

Now there is no sound coming from the XMB no music or anything. So I start a game and still no sound what so ever. I thought with USB headset that I could recieve all sound from the PS3. My only thought is that with the HDMI connection the PS3 wants to send all sound out through that and is ignoring the USB headset.

Any thoughts? HDMI sound works great on my Home Theater system just not when connected to computer monitor.

You cannot get USB sound from the PS3 unless it is voice chat.

So using USb is like using Bluetooth and only chat is available???

So the only way to get sound is to plug in the AV cables and get a headset or converter package to convert from RCA plugs to 3.5mm or something like another post mentioned?

Come ON Sony!

I have my HDMI cable into my monitor. From there, I use the white and red audio cables to get sound.
