I didn't see a Love Guru thread here yet, so I thought I'd just post the trailer, see who else is looking forward to this! :DD

YouTube - The Love Guru Trailer

The premise is pretty funny in and of itself, but I love the bits in the trailer where Myers/guru Pitka is having to explain all his jokes. I have a friend who does that...

Im sorry but i much rather have had another Austin Powers than this. Judging by the trailers it looks like his least funniest movie since Shrek 3.

This looks like the worst movie ever. Just the basic storyline sounds terrible.

Mike Myers has jumped the shark!

The jokes in the trailer really had me going. I love the reverse driving rug with the beeps. Just hilarious.

And the Justin Timberlake comment... it was just the way Myers said it that was hilarious.

LOL! The academy award with the hockey coach!! That was great!

Yeah, I totally didn't even realize that was Justin Timberlake the first time I saw it! He's SO funny there! I just love how Mike myers' character is completely inept socially, and yet he's like the "love guru"...

Haha... I didn't even see that! That's pretty awesome, I had to watch it again.

I read on JoBlo (http://www.joblo.com/7-love-guru-clips) today that they find the movie actually pretty funny. Which is surprising, because JoBlo's usually really really critical, and I thought they'd have a field day with Mike Myers, since people love to try and hate him these days... but they liked the movie, and say it's better than Zohan, which made $40 million or something so far, so Love Guru should be doing ok. :) there's also a bunch of clips from the movie up there, which are worth watching... the clips look funnier than the trailer, which is always a good sign!

Im like Meyers, but I wasnt planning on seeing the movie in theaters since it looked kind of dumb. Then I saw that the story revolves around the Toranto Maple Leafs and the NHL, and Im more inclined to check it out now.

I like Myers but this movie looks terrible. I've seen all the trailers and nothing is good about it, I'll be seeing Get Smart this weekend instead.

I think they're saving the real funny parts for the movie. I like that, I hate it when trailers give away the funniest parts of a movie and then the rest of it is just kind of meh. I read a review today where they really liked the movie, and said it was really funny and also had some "real" moments where it's actually a big touching, which really appeals to me. :snicker

Excerpt from review at http://www.hollywoodtoday.net/?p=5012:
The perfect date film, ‘The Love Guru’ mixes and matches satiric riffs from several film genres including sports dramas and romantic comedies. Complete with a full scale, Bollywood-style dance sequence, Myers says, “I’m an old-school entertainer. I see it as a huge responsibility to ask people to sit in the dark for 90 minutes, so I always want to make sure there’s lots of entertainment – so there’s dance numbers, comedy, drama – and more – in ‘The Love Guru.’ It’s just what I love, entertaining people.” But Myers does more than entertain in ‘The Love Guru’; in all of his silliness, raunchiness and hysterical jokes, there is beauty, simplicity and truth in the message of Guru Pitka.

I don't think that the "Love Guru" is going to be funny. Jessica Alba looks good thogh. :)

Austin Powers 1 and 2 were good and 3 was meh. This one looks no different imo. Has anyone noticed that a lot the recent movies reside primarily in the middle east? Ironman, don't mess with the zohan, etc?

This.

The trailers look really bad, and it looks like they're trying to cash in on the austin powers team and jessica alba.

They've been trying to carry that charisma that Austin Powers did so they have Alba as assurance that it will be a success. TBH the recent comedy films haven't delivered much to the table that is new. Each one has used whats tried and true.

To me the whole voice-over thing at the beginning of the trailer was quite funny, and then he's doing the flash back to when he first joins as a kid, "...so girls will like me, then I will like myself." And then the Hockey coach, he picks him up and does the academy awards joke. Just down-to-earth stuff like that is good. Of course not everyone will like this movie or Zohan, it's all a matter of taste. I happen to find some of this stuff good humor.

Yeah, I love that voiceover at the beginning! I'm going to bring the bf to see it this weekend... he'll get a kick out of it, he loves Austin Powers. Probably likes Mike Myers even more than I do. I also love the bit with Justin Timberlake... I never thought he could act or anything until I saw him on SNL, and he's actually really funny. ("I think he's smuggling a schnauzer...")

EDIT: I was just rewatching the trailer, and I LOVE that stupid little smile Mike Myers gives... like when he's explaining the "make it snappy!" joke and he takes it a leeeeetle too far, but then he gives that little smile (*ding!*) and it's all better. *rolls*

And of course the dump truck beeping rug :snicker

Yeah, they're just a bunch of good critics rating movies, so their opinion doesnt have to be mine or yours.

Those seem very accurate to me.
Signs was great until the end.
Zohan got that because seeing sandlers butt like 10 times and him screwing old and/or fat chicks is not funny.
I dont agree with there ang lees hulk score though they gave it like 63% and i dont think it deserved over 50%.
Besides the cg and action transformers was pretty bad.

That's not some hidden message or anything, that's an actual advertisement on the boards at the Air Canada Centre, where that scene was filmed

Besides the cg and action transformers was pretty bad. There were many other jokes in Zohan to out-weigh that part which I could laugh at in a sense. Signs was very nicely written. It had a great theme that was brought out through the film and the end was a nice icing on the cake. It was far better than the Village which was a bit of a let down at the end.

Transformers... why so many people here don't care for this movie is beside me. It's an awesome action film, period. The story, whatever... take it or leave, its not meant to be an in-depth plot. If people are really into story driven films then ya I could see why you don't like it. It's not that i don't like story-driven films, but sometimes explosions and some purely sweet action is all that is needed.

I thought Transformers was purely badass. One of my favorites. The Megan Fox scene alone is worth a 9/10 :DD I thought the part where he makes his friend get out of the car so he can drive her home and that whole conversation was hilarious. "what? I'm not going to put her in the back!" ... "bros before hoes" :snicker

I knew this movie would fail and it did http://news.fantasymoguls.com/originalcontent/2008/06/exclusive-ear-1.html. Early numbers for yesterday, Love Guru with only $5 million.
