alright heres my question, is it possible to keep all ur files on one HDD and swap to another ps3? i read somewhere that if u switch HDD it'll re-format. i switch HDDs again and it just basically picked up where it left off.

Not too sure on that one, but as a guess i'ld say yes, if you move it to a new ps3 it could try to reformat. if you got a lot of stuff on HHD, not really worth trying .

sorry could not be anymore help

to the OP - nope thats not possible. When you remove your original HDD and put it into another PS3, the 'new' PS3 will automatically reformat the drive.

Its best to back up your existing HDD (using the 'Backup' feature on System Settings) to an external HDD. You can re-download games purchased through the Store up to 5 times, so if you want to reduce copying time just copy the game saves. You would lose all of your music and video downloads though.
