It just needs to be complete. Last years had so many holes and small things missing that the PS2 versions have had for years. Even though I said this last year and still ended up buying day one, I WILL BE RENTING THIS FIRST!

Probably on a Classic team. It would be stupid to have him on the Packers' roster.

This year I'm realling looking forward to this. They've really stepped up this year. Both Madden and NCAA have taken it to another level and the future looks very bright for both of these franchises.

Madden looks solid again. Although I doubt I'll be picking it up at launch, given how many other games I want more. After a few months I'm sure I'll have it though (at a discount) :D

Just look at the season prior to Johnson's rookie year; they had Mike Furrey, a converted free safety, go for over 1,000 yards on just under 100 receptions. Excellent season, right? Guaranteed to start the following year? Wrong. In comes Calvin Johnson to pair up with Roy Williams. Furrey is subsequently benched in favor of Johnson.

As for the ratings, I don't get how Mike Patterson (the most underrated DT in the league) and Broderick Bunkley are ranked the same (84)? Bunk disppeared in too many games. Patterson was second in the league in tackles at his position behind Pat Williams of Minnesota. Not to mention he helped anchor one of the better defensive lines in the league (IMO). He was very consistent throughout the '07 season and probably should've made the Pro Bowl. :pissed:

I disagree.

Although they may be the best in that category and have the highest rating out of HB's, say a 94 in 'break tackle', doesn't mean it should be 100.

100's are rare and are for the elite.

Hah, no problems here man. I'm one of the few Seahawks fans that I know about, so go ahead and shoot at Dallas all you want. Oh, and I know what you mean man. Mike Patterson is definately underrated to EA or whoever is in charge of the ratings of Madden. Now, you may not agree, but I think he deserves a high 80s. Maybe 88, with 89 being generous, where as Broderick makes a perfectly fine 84 if you ask me.

As for 100 ratings, my opinion on it has lightened up a bit. I'm going to have to agree with Typikal on this, and I do think that they're for the elite, and only that. But not in D. Hester's case, as elite as he may be, I think he should be toned down a bit. Probably high 90s still, but I'm sure that the NFL has atleast one faster player who would deserve the 100 more than Hester (even if 100 is pushing it). Greatest returner in NFL History? Yea, hell, give him a 100 overall under K/P return for all I care. I just don't think he's really football. Now, call me old fashioned, but I love powerbacks who can put the shoulder down and lay out the guy in front of him (like Brandon Jacobs). But.. as for Hester, I don't think he can take a hit, and if he does, I don't see him breaking it for a big one. Now, I'm probably wrong, but I'm just going off what I've seen. And what I've seen was Josh Brown (K STL) take Hester down. I've noticed that everytime (mind you, out of what I've seen again) Hester takes it to the house, he's not touched which is probably the result of a combination of great special teams and speed. But, I'm probably taking this too far in a thread specifically for Madden. I just hope he has a low break tackle rating.

While keeping 'returning' in mind, does anyone know if there will be any weapons on returns? Like a speed or elusive weapon? I don't think I've ever seen it on Madden 08. Now, I know I've seen players who are weapons returning a kick/punt, but I don't think I've actually seen the weapon appear before their body.

I thought 2008 took a major step forward, but was far from what it should have been. It seems that EA has really listened to the fans this year, and have reportedly made some massive improvements in all areas. I know the excitement is high every year for Madden and we end up getting let down, but this year seems like it could be THE football game we've been waiting for. I've already got mine pre-ordered, and I can't wait to take my BRONCOS to the Super Bowl. Hell, that's the only way we're getting there so........:-P

Every year I say our BRONCOS are going to the SB. This year, I'm trying some reverse psychology to see if that helps.;) I think Peter Moore may have really lit a flame under Tiburon's *** this year. I think he knows that the past few years have seen the Madden series become stale and knows that more can be done with the franchise. I haven't been this amped for a Madden game since 2005. Here's to hoping August 12th is a day to remember. For the right reasons......

Hahah, that's pretty funny (no sarcasm). I'm from Canada, and always wondered why our beloved CFL teams don't make an appearance on Madden. I mean, they don't have to change the entire game. Remember back in the last gen, when Madden had the Europa (not sure what it's called) teams? They should just toss some north of the border teams in, they'll probably have significantly lower ratings, but I'd still love to see it.

On another note, Duud, you have a thread for making an online NCAA Dynasty thing...Why don't you set up a league online for the guys who'd prefer to play Madden online? If you're down for it of course.

That's not a shock really. The dev kits have not been out that long and EA really isn't the company to care and put time into such stuff. Maybe next year, but still wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

I love watching the CFL games. Before we got the Ravens here in town we had a pretty successful CFL team. Very fun to watch. ;)

I wish they'd have a franchise mode where you can start out as your own team and do an expansion draft.

Reason why Hester shouldn't be 100 speed. He's not the fastest guy in the NFL. Chris Johnson and DeAngelo Hall both run in the 4.2 but neither of them are 100. Why is that?

i like what i have been seeing out of madden 09. they have improved the animations, that was one big reason i didnt like 07, 08 didnt have as much problems but there still were a lot so i didnt buy 08, only borrowed it from friend. but i might get this one cuz it has better presentation with has been a big problem and also it runs a lot faster. the other versions made it seem like you were going almost unrealistically slow witch pissed me off.

I do see some new things in Madden 09 that has me excited for a Madden game again. But still going to wait to buy it to read some reviews and some impressions before I purchase it.
