View Full Version : sync a non-sony brand controller?

So, I have a PS3 controller that’s a non-sony brand. It doesn’t have a USB connection, it’s battery only. It’s a temp controller until my other one arrives in the mail.
Question is…I don’t know how to sync it. The PS3 doesn’t have a sync button, the controller does…but the controller doesn’t seem to sync…the PS3 has no idea it’s there.
Is there a way I can sync it?

If its a bluetooth controller, you might need to go to the settings and pair it with the controller.

yeah, tried that last night but no go. I think it might be a standard wireless.

I might have USB dongle. Don't know where you got it from but maybe they forgot to give it to you.
But if it does have the dongle you need to press a button on the dongle for like 3 seconds to put it into search mode. Then press the button on the controller. That should get them to sync up. I never really have to much luck with the usb wireless stuff though. =[

Why... just why :D.
Well, it doesn't say anything about a USB dongle (that word annoys me every time i type it) , so i'm assuming it is bluetooth not IR. Official Sixaxis controllers need to be paired by wire first, so you can't hijack someone's PS3 from across the road or something, but if this one doesn't have a port you'll have to try again and pair it like you would a headset or mouse (pressing the button to put it in pair mode, then searching with PS3?). If the controller came with instructions check them, maybe you have to hold the pair button down for longer or something. Pretty weird problem though.

2.4 GHz wireless controller - ps3 controllers are bluetooth, so it should have a usb dongle with it.
Also, dongle is the greatest word in the world :)

the liquid-filled, glowing controller transmits on the lovable 2.4GHz RF band
Found that here: http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/17/dreamgears-lava-glow-wireless-ps3-controller-will-blind-your-en/
So the fact it's RF, i think that means it isn't bluethooth

Just out of curiosity I looked it up for you.

It should have come with a USB dongle/receiver.
Their website is extremely buggy.
Sometimes I get the .pdf, other times a wall of text.

LOL i'm sorry (for buying the controller) :P
I'm sure I can get it to work...but it's so crappy. I think i'll just wait for the Sony one to come in the mail...I didn't get the gongle with it anyway...

That is one weird chunky looking controller. May I ask why you didn't just spend a extra bit of cash and get a six axis so then you got 2?
Cheeky as well not only did you get a controller that doesn't spawn supermodels ^^ but they didn't give you the dongle (what a word) so you can play the god damn thing.

Seriously I think all that controller is good for is to create laugh, smerks, and possible blindness. Check inside the battery bay, or maybe somewhere inside the packaging or underside of the controller for a dongle. If that company didn't include one I hope you still have your receipt or some way of returning that atrocious product. (Has no reviews on Amazon probably bcuz you're the first ever to buy one, jk! :D)
