download ps2 games and play straight from ps3?

i was just wondering when i was playing an old ps2 games with some mates (fifa 07, thee best football game ever!!! lol)

i only managed to get a 40gb ps3 when i purchased it just over 2 months ago.

i actually have fifa 08 for my ps3 but really really love!!! fifa 07.

i had a brain fart (excuse me...) is there a way there can be like a ps2 emulator and then just download old ps2 games from internet?

if anybody has heard of this before any info would be amazing!!!

p.s. if this makes no sense and is just random drivel, im currently on some drugs to help with a problem i have with wrist, making everything... fluffy! lol...btw...they are legal drugs...from pharmacy! lol

No not for now, as most PS2 downloadable games are ISO, the PS1 games you can download contain alot of licenses and other info. Sony are planning to release PS2 games on the PSN in the near future, and theres a 25% chance they will. With HOME and other New games coming out they dont really want to focus on last generation, they want to focus on Now.

im gonna try and scour through the internet alot today, off work and with nowt to do but watch the finale of lost, so i might as well try and see if i can see something or even try and do it myself.....or not lol

Emulators for PS2 games? I'm almost certain that ALL emulators you would find would be illegal, and probably don't even work well.

The emulators are 100% legal its the BIOS they use that are illegal unless you dumped ti from a console you own, or something like that.

If PS2 games are to be released on PSN then does that mean there is going to be an update for all PS3 to have emulation of PS2 games?

you can get emulators for almost any format nowadays and probabley they all do work. now if someone dedicated some quality time into creating one for a ps3 so that it can play games downloaded straight from the internet (not ps store) then im pretty sure that they would actually try and make it work.

my fault im just plain dumb i have the luxury of the 80 gig so i dont have to worry about that problem i thought all ps3 had that compatibility

that's ok but no the 40GB does not play ps2 games. (there is a slight chance that sony will release a patch that can allow ps2 games to be played on the 40GB ps3)

i hope it becomes the real deal. i know its stupid wanting to play ps2 games when i have my ps3 but tobe honest i havent found a game yet that i want to play over and over again because its so much fun. dare i say gta4 doesnt evencut the mustard right now.

Damn dude you gotta let me know what you choking there, pharmacy drugs are you sure lol? you sound like your on shrooms or something and totally tripping out :lol:. Damn all I want is a spliff.

Anyway I think they will do PS2 games once they got XMB & Home out the way and whatever else they're doing like playtv etc and then concentrate on bringing PS2 games to the PSN, afterall this is nextgen so to work on lastgen at the moment would be kinda dumb because we may as well all have PS2'S.
