PS3 News Section/Tags

To be honest, I'm really starting to despise these forums due to the fact of constant double posting, reposting threads, threads with one sentence thoughts etc. I do understand there are mods and administrators working hard to prevent this, and I am very much grateful. However, I think something must be done.

I, like many others, are here for the constant updates on PS3. It's much easier to get the news on a forum then it is on a website. Therefor I think we should have an area simply for PS3 NEWS. Select one or two officials to continuously post news, articles, rumors in this area. This area would always be locked. This would be for members who want to read facts, not thoughts, ideas or concepts. Any discussion on this news would be over in PS3 Discussion.

Or

In effort to keep news separated from other ideas, have it mandatory for members to place [NEWS], [RUMOR], etc. in front of their posts so we know exactly what we're getting before we open it. I don't know about anyone else, but I cannot stand when I see a post with a title like this...

...Then you open the post thinking there's some news on a new PS3 component or something of the sort and you end up seeing something like this...

This is in no way a flame or any disrespect to any members or admin. I just feel I needed to say something. I do enjoy these forums very much and I am glad to be apart of it.

Actually, i think this is a great idea, as there has been a flood of analysists reports, and no actual information. This makes browsing the forums teedious (completely wrong spelling). This would make browsing the forums easyer as people could skip to what they wanted.

I believe you're missing my point though.

That is a great roundup for each month, but what about in between each month? It gets very messy.

We are all very anxious and we all want to know as soon as news hits.

Interesting idea. It would be quite hard to moderate if we made it a strict rule though; there would be SO many instances of rules being broken and titles having to be changed - not to mention the amount of "thats not news - thats a rumour" "no way, an analyst said it so its news" etc... Thoughts?

Yeah, I agree.

Though, in the case of an analyst prediction, the poster could simply stick [Analyst] in front of it and allow the reader to take what he wishes out of it. [News] could fall under official news set out by Gamespot, IGN, PS3 Portal etc.

But I do agree, could be quite tough to moderate.

Something needs to be done, this site used to have great informative thread/post, made by educated poster, now must threads are crap,reposted,FUD, no source, or flame. I like the idea of having a locked section where confirmed/verified news,articles are posted maybe by mods or SMC. The monthly round ups are great but maybe something weekly or every 3 days would be better and make the monthly round up like an archive.
