Working on a way to recalculate skill points *Update 18th June 08*

I'm going to try and get the icash author to create a script that will update everyone's skill points inline with post count/thread count etc.

It will work by multiplying out the # of points per thread/reply by your post count and then subtracting 1000 points for every icon you have so that icon owners do not get double counted. Then we will add this on top of any points you accrue in the mean time. I hope this will make everyone more happy with the recent turn of events.

I have to say though, even after losing ~20-odd thousand points, it doesn't look like its going to take anywhere near as long to accrue on the new system 8) They add up much quicker now! Great work :D

I mean, I've only got ~2500 posts, which was roughly 25,000 on the old system - but thanks to trading, I'd earned like 50-60k.

Guess it depends on what your calc is for points-per-post, but I can imagine I'll definitely end up with 0 points (or possibly a negative! :o) when that's all calculated out?

There will of course be some discrepancies in the points people had and will end up with. There's interest from the bank and donations that will not be accumulated for... but there's only so much you can do.

What happens if we end with a negative number? For example, I only have 2,500 post, but 24 Icons...

So, 2500 x 8 (just a guess) = 20,000 SP,
20,000 - 24,000 = -4000

(15,000 of my points were from donations, + bank interest accounted for another few thousand--which I realize are gone and understand)

Yeah, you're not the only one. The majority of users on here have lost a handful of points since the change to the system, but you don't hear all of them complaining or moaning about a refund. Just let the team get on with it, and things will soon be sorted out and you can go crazy in the shop.

This may be a misconception on my part, but I think Seb has already fixed the problem so that the points don't reset after a 24-hour period. I think he had to do this in order to get all of the kinks for the point system dealt with. Either that or he's still in the process of getting this whole debacle sorted out so this problem needn't arise again.

Obviously it isn't supposed to reset itself every now and then, just have patience. It will probably work well soon

I could not agree more with you. I post from time to time and I'm not too worried mostly in part because it now gives me an excuse to actually want some sp because I did have my little beady eye set on an icon. Since we now get points per character it seem like then it will give at least some people a bit more incentive to write a little bit more so that they can get the more sp bringing them closer to what ever reason they wanted the sp to begin with.

Let's just forget about the skill points for now. I mean it's going to reset itself over a 24-hour period so if you're going to vent about it, at least be patient and wait for Seb to investigate to see what's going wrong with the point system. Patience is a virtue, obviously. Let this ride out because in the next week or so I'm sure this whole point system debacle will be solved. I guess it's easy for me to say this since I've never really cared about skill points enough to buy icons over the past couple months.

2 major flaws in this, the forum games spammers get points they shouldn't have and the sig makers dont get the points they should have. Be better just to start fresh.

why not just start fresh but with a set figure, say 3k each or something to make up for what was lost and for what we didn't get while the system was down, sure some peeps will make a bit more than they should but mostly we will be down, but at least we would have something back to start with rather than nothing to show for the lost points? just a thought.
