Need a little help, Ok heres my problem, went to connect my ps3 but found out my dsl box only has one Lan line. tried unplugging my comp and plugging my ps3 straight in, but didn't work. Also tried plugging the ps3 into the usb ports on my comp but that won't work as well. Any help would be greatly appriacated.

Get yourself a Hub, Switch or Router. Or if you just want to use that single line for all your computers and PS3, then you need to get a crossover Cat5 cable.
You can find cables at http://www.monoprice.com
A hub, switch or router can be found at Best Buy or any other electronics store.

It should, I don't think you need a crossover cable for that, since it should automatically compensate and correct.

Kind of a similar question so I wont start a new thread for it. My router at home only has one ethernet cable connection (and one USB connection, but that requires drives and some-such that came with a CD, so I presume will be useless for the PS3)
Does this mean I just have to keep switching the ethernet cable between PS3 and laptop when I want, or will this create any problems?

What you just described is modem, not a router, switching between PS3 and laptop is fine if you don't mind the extra effort of unplugging and plugging cables, not to mention reseting the modem every time you do this, since the modem records the devices MAC address and assigns an IP address to that MAC address, so a router is more convenient as you don't have to do all the above every time you want to go online with the PS3 or laptop, not to mention you can have both the PS3 and the laptop at the same time.
So what you have is this

And what you want is this

Hope that helps with your question.
