I would give this a big no. In my opinion, the PS3 is a well-built machine. There was test/article back then that put the PS3 in an extremely harsh test and lets just say that it was able to pass the test. Unless there is a major outbreak of PS3's bricking due to overheating (which I've never heard of), then yes, the intercooler would be a wise investment. But other than that, it's just a waste of money.
Of course, this is just my opinion.

I heard that it's apparently bad to have it because I wanted to get one myself. Apparently, the ps3 being all hot when you touch it is a good thing, and if it's cold, it's a bad thing, this I heard on these forums.

do not get one....it breaks ps3's......i know from firsthand experience and if you do get one make sure its the pelican air flow intercooler which has its own ac adapter so it does not use the ps3's power supply

If you have problems with it freezing or something than sure get it, otherwise don't.

Just keep the ps3 off the ground and in the open..so air can get to it and not against the wall or having sheets around it or anything of that nature.

No. The PS3 has no problem with heat. It cools it's self fine.

1. it will void your warranty.
2. it will force in air, which will mean extra dust, which you don't want.
3. the PS3 has an amazing cooling system with a HUGE fan, there really is no need at all for an intercooler.

No. Using an intercooler actually is worse for your PS3.

Yes I use it one at least once a month to dust mine. I make sure that the PS3 is turned off before I start dusting just in case any liquid gets on the PS3.

You will actually kill your PS3 if you use it. Since it blocks much needed airways and doesn't even work.
The intercooler may work for the RROD60, but the PS3 doesn't need one, its capable of keeping itself cool even in the hottest of conditions.
Worst case scenario, just place a fan aimed at it.

The best way to keep it clean imo is to do the following:
How to be anal-retentive PS3 nutter butter with a clean console inside and out! -jk
Vacuum your PSb3ast once a month
Dust the surface with Swiffer dust cloths or equiv: microfiber cloth, etc.
Take canned air and from the vents on either side angle the straw towards the front of the console and start from the back and go forward.
Keep the PS3 in a well ventilated area and try to keep the general area around the PS3 free of other electronics if possible and dust free as well.
