If you haven't seen the trailer (http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/hancock/), go see it now!

I had heard of this movie, and was only vaguely interested because I like Will Smith and will pretty much go see anything he does. But I hadn't actually seen the trailer until I saw Indy last week, and now I'm SO psyched for this...

I'll be seeing this. A drunk superhero who doesn't give a **** about what people think about him, priceless. I couldn't stop laughing when he threw that kid in the air. I heard they did a reshoot to make it PG-13, which means that the prison scene when he sticks the guys head up the other guys *** may be cut. I doubt it since you know we see nothing but who knows.

I downloaded the trailer off the PSN a few months ago and found it funny. This is what the bland superhero movie genre(see: Spider-man 3) needs! My Super Ex Girlfriend tried but failed.

I do think Watchmen will be the one to change how a superhero movie will be done/looked at. Just like how the Watchmen Comic series changed how superhero comic books were written so many years ago...

Either way these flicks will be a breath of fresh air!

Haha, so true! I ended up seeing Super Ex Girlfriend and being like... 'wtf?'

I think you're right, though I think Watchmen will be more about cinematography and feel (think Sin City) while Hancock will be more about story/concept. I think that's why I'm really looking forward to it... it seems like it's examining the superhero genre in an actually intelligent way. Making fun of it, yeah, but it's like they said "Okay, if you had superpowers, really, what would you actually be like in the real world?" The trailer's ridiculous, but it seems like the movie's asking some questions that are pretty appropriate given all the other superhero movies coming out this summer.

I dunno about scientology, but the movie doesn't look like it has anything to do with it. I still think it looks good.

Still boggles my mind Will Smith would do such a thing but on topic I'll rent it as it seems good enough to rent.

Hows its supporting Scientology (This is my first knowledge of the movie).. Wait, cause of Will Smith, he refused to join scientology when Tom 'Psycho' Cruise asked him, plus he's cool.

Also, Jason Batemans in it!

EDIT: Just watched the trailer, this movie looks awesome.

Yeah, I love Jason Bateman! He was completely hilarious in Arrested Development, and proved he could do more serious stuff in Juno, I thought. And it looks like he's playing some kind of PR rep for Hancock in this -- I LOVE the idea of a superhero needing someone to handle PR! One of those things you don't think about, but would totally be necessary in the modern world...

Ive just noticed this film will give Smith a record, which he is one of only three actors in the history of film to have seven consecutive US$100 million blockbusters, the two other being Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks. Theres no doubt this film is going to be a blockbuster.

He didnt refuse hes a scientologist now and if you have been reading the news he has built a scientology school for kids. I refuse to pay money for a movie where a scientologist has a big part in the movie.

Damn.

Good job I won't be seeing it, then. I saw the poster and thought it looked good; I then saw the trailer and it didn't look as hot as I thought it would. And now I know that Smith is one of that lot - well, I've lost a lot of respect for the man.

Dawt.

Nevertheless, I don't hate Will Smith. In fact, he is my 2nd favorite actor next to Shia Labeouf. It makes me thing a little less of him now, but that is it.

Yes. There is nothing wrong with that. I have the freedom to do so.
Oh and if you knew all the stuff about scientology i know you would most likey do the same.

Not really. I'm not going to stop having sex because scientologists have sex.

Yes you can not see it or just not see it in theaters for the reason you stated, but you'll be really sorry when you go through life avoiding something because it's remotely linked to something you don't like.

Also, your reason doesn't really have a base as this movie is in no way supporting scientology, and before you say "Will Smith's being paid for it" most actors are smart enough to take a base pay which means they make say 10 million dollars whether the movie made 5 or 500 million. In other words, the only person you're screwing over by seeing it without paying is everybody except Will Smith (and most likely any other big name actors/actresses in said movie.)

Hey, I don't like scientology one bit but if say Will Smith or Tom Cruise are in a movie that I'm really looking forward to seeing it won't stop me. Now granted, if they were putting money made towards Scientology then I wouldn't see the movie at all.

Heres a mini featurette clip, don't worry it's in english...

A Korean website has posted a behind-the-scenes featurette on Hancock (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=17162) that includes new footage and interviews with director Peter Berg, Will Smith, Charlize Theron, Jason Bateman and the producers about the flawed superhero. Columbia Pictures will release the action-comedy on July 2nd.

Rolling Stone has a video of Peter Travers going over a bunch of the movies this summer -- and in addition to saying that Iron Man and TDK are gonna rock, he says he thinks Hancock is going to be "spectacular."

All the critics hated this film + all the youtube videos I've seen thought the 3rd act/last 20 or so minutes didn't
live up to the hype. Such a shame since I enjoyed independence day film. I now have mixed feelings.

I'll skip this film most likely. Seems like the film critics & these youtubers got the final word in. I'm not gonna
argue with them now. Saved me $20 from spending, this is what I like about youtube. Sooo.......SKIP IT!!!!

I watched it last night.

Special effects were great and the budget is around the same as the upcoming Dragonball movie so it gives me high hopes for that film.

The story however was not so great....

psh most people cant review movies. true it wasn't a complete resolved piece. and believe me i'm a man of story and plot but they really did give you everything you needed. they only didn't explain one big piece of background but it didn't affect the plot or story. everything else you can figure out. this movie i enjoyed because ofits range of emotion, especially some that you dont expect to find in this genre and it displayed them genuinly. its not the best but aside from wall-e i think its your best bet. theres humor, action, and more. its a pretty well rounded movie and i left satified and i think i'm a rather tough critic.

if you can see the movie for all it is, i really dont think you'll walk out disappointed.

btw how the hell do you spent 20 bucks on a movie, i only spend 7-8 dollars..

I saw it yesterday. At first I was a little put off by the whole premise of Hancock, his character, but eventually as the movie progressed the whole of the film began to resonate with me. Not to mention a few choice plot revelations that were pretty well handled. By the end of the film I'm walking out of the theatre thinking 'This was a really great movie.'

I had no intention to waste my $ to see this film but your input pushed me off the fence to check this film out.
My film going experience of theater concession stand+lunch+admission price rounds out to $20.

**SPOILERS** -- I choose not to use spoiler tags cause I'm peeved.
Just kidding. My issues I have with this film are:
1) no flashback scenes, why not? It would have enhanced the story, especially where Handcock loses his memory.
2) no back story on the villain, just another broke a** 2-bit down on his luck punk mofo biatch. Cool villains add to the story.
3) ending? wth, New York, of all places. NO police protection for the only superhero with God-like powers. Makes no sense at all.

Overall, I enjoyed it. No regrets. Soooo......will there be a sequel? After you see this film, I don't think it would top this film.

The trailer gave away WAY TOO MUCH cool stuff, the more enjoyable moments to the point that I didn't get the thrill when seeing those scenes again.
What a major dissapointment. It PEEVED me off.

I give this film a matina ticket/cheap seats see it--action scenes+superhero rudeness bum worth seeing.
Skimped story & plot is a minus.
