Your moniter needs to accept HDMI as an input, or DVI aslong as it is HDCP enabled.
Can you link your moniter please?

If not, you'll need a vga box with component in and vga out. Like this one:

Works great for me.

I just bought a monitor from Dell for playing PS3 on it, and it works and looks beautiful. I made sure it had an HDMI port before ordering it.

I can't see a 22" Samsung monitor not having DVI.
Yeah, it does.

Yeah, just order one off Amazon or somewhere. The only problem then is where your sound comes from. You'll have to enable scart or optical sound in your PS3 settings to hear anything.

And that means what? I have seperate cambridge sound works speakers and a subwoofer connected to the computer now, will i be able to use them?

The DVI cable doesn't carry sound so you will need to find another way of getting sound from your PS3.
If you've got a Camebridge 5.1 amp you can use the PS3s optical cable or the two red and white leads if there's a socket for them. If not you'll need an adaptor to turn the red and white phono leads into a stereo jack.
It all depends on what inputs you've got free.

I used to use a 22" HP monitor for a long time and it worked great. For the HDMI to DVI cable I would definitely recommend Monoprice, it probably wouldn't run you over 8 or 9 dollars shipped, whereas Best Buy would most definitely want 30 bucks or more. As for the sound, I know my monitor had built in speakers but I just ended up buying a relatively cheap Logitech setup that worked out great. You'll just want to use the HDMI output for video and the audio portion of the composite cables that came with your PS3 for sound. However, a lot of computer speaker setups use 3.5mm headphone jack-style audio cables, and of course your PS3 will be outputting RCA cables. If this is the case you'll just need to order a Y cable with 2 female RCA cables on one side and a male 3.5mm jack on the other side. Monoprice would be great for this as well.
My apologies if that sounded like a scattered mess, so here's some links to the parts I was talking about:
HDMI to DVI converter:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10419&cs_id=1041902&p_id=2080&seq=1&format=2
I chose this particular type of converter because you can actually just attach a DVI cable to one side and plug the HDMI side into the PS3 so you would save costs on an HDMI cable, since most people probably have a DVI cable already and they are generally cheaper than an HDMI cable anyways.
RCA to 3.5mm Y cable:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021804&p_id=666&seq=1&format=2
If you need a DVI cable as well you can order that from Monoprice, too. If you order it all together you'll save a lot of money on shipping. Pair all this with a computer speaker set up and you should be set.
