We have the best trilogy thread, I thought it would be a good idea to see who everyone has as there best three directors. You can list what movies you like by said director as well. It may also get other people to watch movies they haven't seen by a director they like or some people might be interested in said movie. Anyways, here's mine to start!

3. Martin Scorsese

It took him forever to win the Best Director award but he definitely deserved it. He has a great list of films that he has done, some of them are: Raging Bull, Gangs of New York, Goodfellas, The Aviator, The Departed, The Age of Innocence and many more.

2. Joel & Ethan Coen

They've won many awards and for the most part Joel was credit as the director. It wasn't until there 2004 film Ladykillers that Ethan was created. They've been nominated for Best Director, Screenplay, and Picture. Some of there great films are: Fargo, The Big Lebowski, O'Brother, Were Art Thou? and No Country for Old Men.

1. Christopher Nolan

He spent $6,000 to make his first film titled Following. He worked on it during the weekends and showed it at the San Francisco Film Festival in 1998. It was then, that Newmarket optioned the script for Memento. He's been around since 1989 (created a short film) and his list of films are: The Following, Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Prestige and the soon to be released The Dark Knight. He's got a bunch of projects that include: The Exec (Director), The Keys to the Street (Writer), The Prisoner (Director), Deadpool (has interest) and 'The Chaser (Director).

1.Spielberg, the best there was and ever will be.
2.Nolan, Memento was just pure genius and he brought my hero back from the dead.
3.Michael Bay- People truly don't know how hard it is to set up and catch the stuff he does. Most of his scenes can only be shot once, and he consistently nails it every time.
4.Scorsese, a gangster film genius and an amazing visionary.
5.Quentin Tarrintino he is the master of dialogue and making films that seem more like real life experiences, than set up scenes with fancy lighting.

For movies like Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, and Close Encounters - 1. Steven Spielberg.

For Star Wars of course 2. George Lucas

More recent stuff would be 3. Michael Bay - Countless awesome action movies. The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, and the Prestige which are truly great films 4. Christopher Nolan. For his interesting style and well done movies 5. Tony Scott. And this last odd duckling 6. Kurt Wimmer for Equilibrium. Oh right and 7. Wachowski Bros. for The Matrix and Speed Racer - loved the style and thought it was just done well.

Ridley Scott - What can I say about this guy, I was exposed to his films at a very early age and they just captured me and they continue to do so. For those who don't know him he did:

Alien
Blade Runner
Black Rain
Gladiator
American Gangster
Black Hawk Down
Legend

Steven Spielberg is another director I grew up with and brought a lot of different worlds and fantastic adventures to life. Films that stick out for me from him are:

Indiana Jones
Jaws
Duel
Empire Of The Sun
Jurassic Park
Saving Private Ryan

Quentin Tarantino - He really brings a unique experience to his films which end up being absolutely enjoyable. Notables are:

Pulp Fiction
Jackie Brown
Kill Bill
Death Proof

The last one was hard but other key directors for me are:

Guillermo Del Toro
Tony Scott
Martin Scorcese
John Landis
John Mcteirnan
John Carpenter
Michael Bay

All of the above, but right now Tarantino is the best IMO. He has not made a bad movie yet. In fact I love everything he has put out as his own.
* Reservoir Dogs (1992)
* Pulp Fiction (1994)
* Jackie Brown (1997)
* Kill Bill Volume 1 (2003)
* Kill Bill Volume 2 (2004)
* Death Proof (2007)

I disagree.
I thought Death Proof was terrible.

A lot of folks did but boy did I love it, in the dialogue lies the greatness of that film.

I fu**in love it. Funny and dark. It is so Tarantino. To each his own, of course, but I just thought it was awesome.

Pulp Fiction is my fav, I have seen it at least 150 times and still can't turn it off if I catch it on cable. Watched it last night at about 2am as a matter of fact.

I think i hated it because im a Kurt Russel fan and it offended me to see him cry and scream like a ********** baby. Also im really not into cars and the bulk of the movie was driving.
