ps3 loudness

i just recently sent in my ps3 for repair/exchange and this one seems to be quite a bit louder than my original (day 1) console. i know some have mentioned loud ps3s, and for those that have is it a big problem? what may cause it? or is it just a newer system with a more powerful fan?

(fan is what is louder not the disc drive or anything else)

when playing games or watching movies or in the xmb aswell?

it may be that games are so powerful that they need loads of air to cool down the ps3

I think mine is getting a little bit louder, but the weather here in Greece is getting hotter and hotter and maybe that's why.

its really only when playing games.

when my PS3 is just siting in the xmb its really quiet.
but when it gets warm the fans will kick up one speed. for while
then they will go back down to wjat it was before

It all depends, if it's a hot day the ps3 will get warmer, making the ps3 fans spin faster making it louder, but this is normal.

i notice that my PS3 fan kicks on when playing GTAIV and COD4, just those two games.

TBH the only time my PS3 makes a noise is when i turn it off

I have noticed that my fan is gettting a bit louder probably because of the temp. rising since its getting into June. Also, when i put in GTA the ps3 makes the 'checking the HDD' which kind of sounds like a group of clicks or just basically a hd reading a disc like when you put one in your laptop or what not.

I haven't heard my PS3 yet to date. No fan, nothing. Now...my question is...is that BAD. Is there a chance that my fans are just not working? Or am I not playing it long enough to have the fans turn on?

Is there a certain amount of time that has elapsed before you have heard your PS3 fans turn on?

what do you consider loud? mine has a gentle hum like a angel :lol: its not loud like my 360 though.
