Alright whats everyone's way of cleaning there PS3 inside and out do you use...

Vac Cleaner & Duster
Vac Cleaner & Anti Static duster
Compressed Air & Duster
Open the dam thing and niggle at it's insides and admire
The list could go on I do the vac cleaner and Anti static duster with the PS3 switched off (no polish or other solvents) and when I am not using it I cover it up with a cover that I used for my PC keyboard and the vac cleaner on the fan openings.

With that in place it seems to have cut dust intake a lot but I aint been using my PS3 for a while now.

not really in most cases....old 100% cotton undershirts make GREAT cloth rags...

Microfiber towel to dust it off. For fingerprints I use a tiny bit of windex on the towel to wipe off. To vaccum I used a Craftsman wet/dry vac...literally would suck the components out of the PS3 but at least it is clean.

I've never cleaned a console in my life; certainly not gonna start with my PS3. ;) My 360 on the other hand should be cleaned I guess. It needs all the help it can get to keep working.

Best thing I've found for cleaning the outside is spectacle lens cleaner and a soft cloth.

As for the insides, just a good suck with the hoover, which seems to have made it quiet once again.

i use a small cleaning cloth for the outside case of the ps3 and i use a weak vacume strong enough to get the dust out of the vents.

Acid. a flamethrower, and liquid nitrogen for those hard to get places.

Actually, I just rub it off with a towel every day before I turn it off.

I just use a microfibre cloth i got for about £1 from Wilko's. Spray it lightly, and give it a quick wipe off before using a dry bit to dry it off

I haven't cleaned the dust out of it's insides yet, in the 14 months i've had it.

I use a lint free cloth to keep the surface clean and use a vacuum to clean the vents. I also recommend taking the HDD out now and then. I did mine and it was just covered in dust in the bay and all around the drive.

Its not something you have to do all the time. Just once every couple of months.

outside: Swiffer FTW !
I haven't opened up the case to clean the inside. Blowing air into the console is getting SOME of the dust out, sure.. but you're 99% just moving the old dust into new places inside the console lol. Blowing dust out while in a vacuum chamber maybe ?

May 25th, 2008, 01:41 AM
how often should you clean it?

Hotdog
May 25th, 2008, 01:41 AM
to blow out the dust I use a hairdryer with a cold setting.

Please note that it is on cool and the heating element is not used.

Do not try with a dryer without cold air setting

yes lens cleaner is very good for cleaning the ps3 you can pick the stuff up at the optometrists for a few pounds a bottle. never fails and no marks to date. Hoover at the back for a minute or so. first console i ever cleaned hmm and i have had a few since the early 80s think this might be the most expensive and the one i love the most.

TIP: Don't do that. It's tricking the system into thinking its overheating. It weakens the fans.
