Hi guys, im looking for a headset for my ps3... Preferably bluetooth.. Thing is that all the bluetooth headsets i came across so far are one-ear only.. I want a proper headset with mic...
Ok preferably it would be a backphone type of headset. I defintely dont want it to be very very bulky but i want a good one.
Its a must that it is Wireless.. not only bluetooth if its impossible.
Thanks to all those who take their time to reply

Get this one: http://reviews.cnet.com/headsets/jabra-bt125/4505-13831_7-32117555.html
I've heard good things about it on this forum, and I'll probably be getting one myself.

To my understanding the PS3 doesn't support stereo(two ears) bluetooth headsets, so you will probably need to just get a one ear piece.

Dunno if these are the sort of thing you'd be looking for, or if they'll even work well with the Ps3, but I guess they are Sony so that should count for something....

I'm sure if you keep looking around on carphone warehouse you'll find something on there.

i dont think you can use headsets for what you want on the PS3. i may be wrong but i am sure you cannot

i simply want the audio output to be transmitted to the headset and not the tv. is it not possible?

i think it needs to go though the T.V. first then from there to the PS3

I doubt it, you might be able to use them as a normal headset...to talk to people and hear them.
You want a headset that plays the game's sound through your headset and still use it as a headset to talk to people i'm pretty sure that doesn't do it.
i was thinking of getting this headset
http://www.cooleststuff.co.uk/WsProduct.asp?sessid=138831767264&BPID=4429
not sure if the mic works with ps3 but that's as close as i can find for my needs

I know it works with ps3, i said "mic"
because they say
"http://www.cooleststuff.co.uk/Graphics/bullet.jpg Detachable microphone is compatible with XBOX Live."
hence not sure if the mic works with ps3 :)

Yeah, just a normal bluetooth headset should work but you might want to check combatibilty before buying one, espcially if your forking out quite a lrage amount for it.

You can't do what you want to do....
I wanted the same thing. I researched and found the PS3 will only allow voice messaging through bluetooth (headset.. talking only) and Game sound through the other outputs (like hdmi, optical, AV etc)...
So, I just bought a set of wireless headphones and plugged the base unit into my sound system. This prevents me from waking the baby... however, I can not chat online with the headset because I only have two ears... not three... so it is kinda either / or.
Logitec or Sony should come up with a set of wireless headphones with a built in bluetooth headset so we can get the best of both worlds...
If you are mechanically and electrically inclined... you may be able to take a blutooth headset apart and try to rig it into a wireless headset so it all works together...
Good luck.

Can you use wired headsets on the PS3 instead of the Bluetooth headsets.

Has any one look into the new Jabra BT8030? I have been researched for a 2-earred bt stereo headset and read quite a bit reviews but have yet find reliable information about any 2-earred bt headset that guarantees work with PS3. The Jabra BT8030 might be the closest one but there isn't much reviews about it. I've even contacted Sony tech support and the technician can't even provide me the answer I'm looking for. At this point, I guess if even a Sony's technician doe not have an answer for a 2-earred bt compatible headset for PS3. That should mean something.... There isn't one available in the market, at least not yet.

Exactly, thats what i want... I want it to be bluetooth so that i take advantage of the technology.. It doesnt have to be Bluetooth but it definetly has to be wireless..
I want a heaset, with two headphones, so that when i come down to play during the night, i can be able to play with sound at full blast without waking anyone!!!
In my opinion, Sony should really consider this feature! Does anyone know whether i can make it on some way or another? this is a very interesting issue i think we should talk about
+rep to whoever comes out with a good solution :)

Answering the person above, you *should* be able to pair any bluetooth mobile headset with the PS3, although some of them have been given poor reviews regarding ease of pairing / quality.
Like many others have said the Jabra BT125 still has the best reviews for any headset, it was the only one with no negative reviews when I wanted to buy one, and works fine for me.

Been doing my research, looking for a bluetooth headset for my ps3. Some of the ones Ive seen are flimsy. The best thing to do is check Amazon.com and look for ones with high ratings and lots of reviews. I may get Amazon.com: Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset with Multipoint Technology [Retail Packaged]: Cell Phones & Service . 4 1/2 star rating, with 2,123 ratings.
I've seen one bluetooth that has 1 for both ears, problem is you have to have a special chip which the PS3 doesnt have. Not to mention it only allows you to do 1 or the other at a time. Your best bet is to get a wireless headset with a base, hook that up to your tv/receiver, and use that at night. Either that, or build a garage and play out there.
Upon more research I read that the PS3 uses the Bluetooth Version 2.0, so any bluetooth headset or keyboard will work if it is version 2.0 or lower. 2.0 is the highest at the moment I believe. Just rememer BEFORE YOU BUY always try and find reviews of the product, I always read the input and seem to get the best of my money. Hope this makes some sense.

Your not gonna find any bluetooth headset that will allow you to do what you are wanting. Listen to the game through the headset and communicate.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826235001&Tpk=ps3%2bheadphones
This headset will allow you to listen to the game thru your headset but will not allow you to voice chat. It hooks up to the back of your PS3 thru the optical input. The mic isn't compatible with the PS3 however it is with the 360.
Closest your gonna get unfortunately. The PS3 does not support stereo sound (2 ear) thru bluetooth or usb.

I posted this yesterday but due to some circumstances beyond our control we had to reset to an earlier time. We'll out of the kindness of my heart. (and the high levels of boredom at work today) I'll give you two routes you can go inorder to obtain what your loking for.
1) The Wired Route: Ok, granted. This isn't EXACTLY what your looking for, but I feel it would be the better option of the two so please bear with me.
First of all you will need to purchase the 5.1 surround Sound headset I posted just above your last post. You will also need a PSEye. Plug the eye into a USB lot and the headset into the Optical output on the PS3. Now, to adjust your setting. Make sure your audio is set to output thru your optical output. Next set your PSEye as your voice-input device and set the output to default.
The end result is 5.1 Surround Sound aswell as voice chat thru your headset while using the PSEye as the mic.
2) The Wireless Route: Ok here we go. First things first. Your PS3 needs to be connected to a receiver that has a headphone jack. Next you'll need some wireless RF headphones. Can be found at most electronics or home audio shops. Once again a PSEye aswell. Assuming your PS3 is already connected to your receiver you just need to plug in the wireles basestation of the headphones into the receivers headphones jack and the PSEye into the PS3. MAke sure your PS3 is set to the right audio output for the reciever, whether it be HDMI,Optical,Component or Composite cables. Also as I said in option 1 above, make sure your PSEye is set as the voice input device while the output is set to default.
Well there you are. I propose these 2 methods to you since your really wish for this type of setup. I wouldn't mind hearing if anyone else had any Idea for you. Well, Good Luck to you. Hope you figure out what you want to do and all goes well.
edited:feel free to substitute the pseye for a simple bluetooth headset if you like. You can just clip it onto your shirt or whatever. Just make ure you adjust the settings accordingly. Output must be set todefault tho.
