1.) I think it does but just to make sure this is a powered SUB right??
2.) Can you name the inputs like one optical to Ps3 and another optical to TV??

I had that set-up before
The sub is seperate powered
You can have optical from PS3 and TV
*HOWEVER* I'd recommend the purchasing of a newer Onkyo reciever that is capable of extracting audio from HDMI as you would then be able to get wider array of sound formats versus optical.

If you are on a tight budget this is a great setup. Onkyo makes by far the best budget minded htib on the market. My dad has this setup and it is pretty good for the price.
The sub is powered as bam said.
The receiver has 2 optical and 1 coax connection so you can hook up to 3 things to it and get digital audio.

as long as you dont overdrive the sub, ie bass levels to high or overly high volume the sub along w/the other speakers should last a long time

distortion is a property of the amp that is driving the sub. As you push amps to their limits, the distortion sent to the speaker increases. Because this is a low cost set up there will likely be a small amount of distortion present but I doubt you or anyone else will notice it. Unless you blow the sub, distortion will never increase.

Onkyo does have some great HTIB setups, but what is the quality of these setups as compared to some higher brand models. The receivers for these systems look like they have all the inputs you would ever need and I've heard the sound quality is great as well. Is there a reason you would need anything more than this?
