Being a huge fan of Buffy and Angel i can't wait to get hooked on Dollhouse.
If you've never seen Buffy or Angel before then definetly start watching this show as Joss has to be one of the best writers out there.
Anyone else hyped for this
The show follows an organization that employs mind-wiped DNA-altered humans known as Dolls who are implanted with false memories and skills for various missions and tasks. When they are not 'at work' they are living in a real life Dollhouse which gives the show the name. One of those mind-wiped humans, a young woman named Echo, is slowly starting to become aware of herself and what's going on - all the while somebody on the outside is trying to bring the Dollhouse down while getting closer to Echo - possibly not aware that she is one of the Dolls he is after.

9:00-10:00 p.m. - Prison Break
Tuesday
8:00-9:00 p.m. - House
9:00-10:00 p.m. - Fringe
Man, there's going to be a **** load of T.V. Show's to watch and I'll definitely be following, Dollhouse when it premiere's.

Good to see Joss coming back with something new, also same for Eliza 'Faith' Dushku and Amy 'Fred' Acker and hopefully Charisma 'Cordy' Carpenter shows up. But it looks pretty good, god knows when the UK will get it though...

Well, whether or not it comes to UK television right away, you will probably be able to download it (legally! support the show, don't pirate ) off iTunes, or watch it on Fox's site, or something. The big shows they generally do that for. :D

Would you recommend this show to someone who hated Buffy and Angel but loved Firefly?
Yes. (And I'm not just saying that.) Joss Whedon's writing and direction have changed and matured vastly since he came up with Buffy. Even though the "tone" of Buffy changed a lot over the years, it was still the show he came up with based on a movie released 16 years ago. Angel, while different in tone than Buffy, was still indirectly based from that same thing. Whedon has admitted that Buffy was a fluke -- he just did it on a whim. Firefly was one of his "babies," a concept he'd had forever and had been perfecting in his head over at least a decade, if not more than that. Buffy and Angel, while I love them dearly, were just practice for Firefly.
Whedon has not said it outright, but has hinted that Dollhouse is another such "baby," something totally his, that he feels for as much as he felt for Firefly in its intellectual infancy. We can only hope it's as great a show, and that he slips into it as deftly as he did Firefly.
But yes, random lectures aside -- I think Whedon's writing continues to grow and change and improve over the years, and that Dollhouse can only be a continuation along that path, as Firefly was down the path a ways on from Angel, and Buffy. So yes. I think you should definitely give it a shot. :)

Yeeah, I love this picture. You're totally right. Basically, to me, the "feel" of the trailer sort of combines Wolfram & Hart with Blue Sun, in the whole government conspiracy creepy vibe. So, in summary, SO EXCITED. thanks for posting it Bitby, I'd only seen smaller versions.

Good riddance, ccoff.
Did anyone see that article where they talked about how Joss Whedon's inspiration for the show was from a lunch he had with Eliza Dushku, and she said that she felt like everyone wanted her to be something different every second of the day, and like she sometimes had no sense of "self" in the middle of everything? I wish I could find the link, but I was looking at the article at home and am at work now, so can't find it in my history.
Anyway, that explains why Eliza Dushku, which in turn explains why Fox, since Fox still owns Dusku's talent contract...

How did I miss this thread?!
I cannot wait for Dollhouse, love Joss Whedon.
As for Jj Abrams, well.. I hate cliffhangers and much prefer watching series years after they're done so I can watch them back to back. I loved Lost when it came out, but couldn't watch it after half of season one as it just annoyed me. Recently I watched all of Alias back to back and even though I had them all when I started watching them I still got annoyed at the style of asking more questions than answering it and just sooo overcomplicating things. So I think I will wait on Fringe..

How DID you miss it? I was just about to ask on the TV Show thread if you'd seen this thread. :D
I totally agree about Abrams. I loved first season Lost, but now I only watch it maybe twice a season, go on a big spree and watch them all at once, because he depends waaaay too much on cliffhangers to hold an audience, and to be honest, the cliffhangers now are nowhere near as cool as they were in first season. So yeah, good plan, on Fringe.
Dollhoouuuuuuse. God, I cannot wait. I'm pretty much dying. Way, way too excited about a show that's not coming out until January. If Fox doesn't promote the HELL out of this, I'm going picketing.

To be fair I don't know all that much about Dollhouse, but looking on Imdb I see it's got all the typical Joss Whedon people, Eliza Dushku [love her, shame Tru Calling didn't work out], Amy Acker [although I didn't like her in Alias and never did finish watching Angel...]..
Should be good!

Didja watch the trailer? :D
I love Amy Acker, I think she's adorable. I never did watch Alias, though -- if she's no good in it, perhaps I'd better just not watch it. And I also never did watch Tru Calling, because the promos looked pretty heinous, and I wanted to remember Faith as Faith, because nothing can be more badass. Though Eliza Dushku with Joss Whedon again... oh man. So excited.

I just hope that the UK doesn't get it too late from when it airs in the U.S., my wife and I have been watching Buffy and Angel again after hearing about Dollhouse, we just don't get tired of those shows. But that set on the picture really does look like Wolfram & Hart...

Yeah... I kind of can't stop thinking of her as Faith, and that place as Wolfram & Hart, especially after Bitby pointed out the set similarities.
That's a terrifying thought. Imagine in Wolfram & Hart had gotten Faith on their payroll full time?

I did watch the trailer, but I still don't really know all that much about it an think I want to leave it at that! It's still too far away to really read about it!
Tru Calling was good, but she was basically Faith who's day would rewind. They got into consequesnces etc in the second series and I think it would've been great later on, but they cancelled it.

Hmmmm. Maybe I should check it out. :D Yeah, I'm specifically not spoiling myself on Dollhouse (there's scripts and audition reads up various places that I'm avoiding). I know the basic premise, and I've seen the trailer, and I've read a few Joss/Eliza interviews, but beyond that, I'm keeping it quiet. I want to experience Dollhouse like I did Firefly! Though really... I can't imagine Dollhouse quite touching Firefly. What is life without Nathan Fillion? And Alan Tudyk, and Gina Torres, and Jewel Staite, and Adam Baldwin? ><

I know what you mean, it seems impossible! But then again I thought the same with Buffy and the gang years ago and well, I managed to get past that.
I only got into Firefly this year as well, so it's still fresher in my memory. I really fancy watching it again.
Hopefully Dollhouse lasts..

Yeah, that is true. You leave a Joss Whedon show saying "My life is over! No TV can be better than that TV!" and then you watch the next Joss Whedon show and go "...wow. Maybe I can live again."
So yeah... fingers crossed on Dollhouse.

Wooow, great pics, Bitby! Thank you so much for posting them here!
Whoa... not to continually draw parallels, but how much does Eliza Dushku look like River in that middle picture of her lying down in the blue dress?
Come to think of it, though, from what I've heard about the premise and seen in the trailer, it's not a far cry to jump from River to Echo. Echo is a jack of all trades, like River... seems to have "triggers," basically, or some way of causing pre-programmed behavior, like River. Of course, there are differences, but it does seem to be something Joss Whedon might be toying with because he never got to take River down her path all the way.

And yeah, I'd love to see something along the lines of River, that character always seemed pretty amazing.
