Yo, just got a ps3 and I'm loving it btw but quick question. I only have a Flat tube TV not a lcd with 1080p capabilities or anything but I was wondering can I tell a difference between dvd and blu-ray on this tv? I will be using component cables

yes you can but its not that huge. but once you get a lcd you will say good god like i did when i got my 42in baby.:DD

So is it worth buying or renting blu ray movies or should I stick with dvd untill I get a lcd?

If you 100% your going to be getting an LCD in the near future, then I would recommend going ahead and getting the Blu versions. You want notice much difference now but when you get that shiny new LCD you definitely will. That way, you want have to buy all your movies again in Blu because you got them all on DVD.

Ok kool thanks, now I just need to find a good 1080p hdtv around 32 inches thats not too expensive

If you have a CRT TV, with Tubes that is HD, then the picture will be higher quality than an LCD.
LCD is typically the way to go for people with smaller budgets as they are the cheapest and most common.
People with good CRT HDTVs have some of the best images around, but I assume you are talking about non-hd.

Plasma - even a good 720p model will outperform so many 1080p LCD screens.
It really comes down to how important image quality is to you as opposed to being able to say "This is 1080p"
Or you can have the best image possible and get a 1080p plasma :D

So I have a Samsung 4254 so would blu ray benefit me since its 720p native?

Yes - it will benefit you greatly.
Enjoy HD. Don't worry that you don't have 1080p. 720p/1080i can still be wonderful.
